Re: NANNUP GETAWAY: October 10-11, 2020
Progress report for the Great Nannup Getaway October 10th-11th 2020.
21 people have registered so far which is a terrific response from the club members and it promises to be a interesting ride down to Nannup through our beautiful South west as Mr. John Wightman Esq. Esteemed Club Member and Renowned World Traveller has kindly offered his services to lead the bitumen ride on the outbound journey
For the return trip I will probably prevail on Mr. Peter Spencer (SSFR) Senior Self Funded Retiree, Alias "GPS Pete" to use his well founded expertise to lead an equally interesting and alternate route back home again on Sunday
For those who prefer camping out there is the Nannup Caravan Park approx. 100-150 metres away from the Hotel for you to erect a tent or to roll out a swag.
Meals are available at the Hotel or at one of the local Restaurants/Cafes.
So welcome aboard folks and enjoy the friendship, laughter and great camaraderie the BMWMCCWA is well known for as you climb aboard for the Third Voyage to "The Great Nannup Getaway", 2020 version !!
If you require further details I am usually at Cat's for brekkie on a Sunday morning (Not this Sunday) or you can source my contact details through the Private Members Forum.
Regards To All

Re: NANNUP GETAWAY: October 10-11, 2020
ONLY 2 WEEKS TO GO FOR THE GREAT NANNUP GETAWAY WEEKEND FOLKS!!
Lets hope the weather remains favourable for the weekend of 10th and 11th October.
PETER SPENCER(alias GPS) and Ride Leader has almost completed his master plan for an interesting and exciting ride down through our beautiful South West to NANNUP with a planned stop for lunch at suitable destination able to cater for us all in a township yet to be revealed !!
He is also planning and leading an alternate route home again on Sunday for those of you wanting to tag along!!
We will be meeting at the NORTH DANDALUP SERVICE STATION adjacent to DELL PARK ROAD for a planned DEPARTURE of 0900 HRS on SATURDAY the 10th of OCTOBER.
You will be given a briefing prior to our departure on our intended route and lost points!!
Please remember to make sure your fuel tanks are filled here before we depart this location so as to avoid any unnecessary delays along our way south!
PETER will be LEADING the Ride and I will take up my normal position as Tail End Charlie and given we have so many riders joining us and we are bound to be stretched out a fair bit MAX WRIGHT has very kindly volunteered to act as an INTERMEDIARY RIDER in an effort to keep the group fairly intact.
All Riders are requested to to keep the riders both in front and behind them in LINE OF SIGHT AT ALL TIMES so we are able to maintain cohesion and remain in contact at all times as a group!!
Also and VERY IMPORTANT is all riders to mark corners and wait for slower riders to catch up to avoid anyone getting lost!!
It may also pay for all riders to study and learn the RIDE HAND SIGNALS that Bozo recently posted on the net!!
Nev (Spacey) has kindly loaned our group the use of 4 Walkie Talkies for our use on the trip and these will be distributed accordingly to selected people before our departure from North Dandalup!!
Last years group attended a great little Restaraunt in Nannup which was an excellent venue and top meals where we had a terrific evening but sadly it has closed permanently due to Covid 19 earlier this year so I have now forewarned the NANNUP HOTEL to expect a Hungry Horde of Riders and Pillions for dinner Saturday night!!
A reminder also that if anyone is still thinking of joining us on this momentous ride but are worried about the lack of accommodation remember the NANNUP CARAVAN PARK is only about 150 metres away from the Hotel so you are will still be able to pitch a tent or throw a swag on the ground, weather permitting!!
There may also be some vacancies at local B&Bs if that suits your needs better!
Finally, I wish to thank you all for showing so much interest and for joining in on what promises to be a very memorable weekend of great riding, good fellowship, camaraderie and much laughter!!
After all it is you folks that make this club so great to belong to!!
Regards
Swampy
PS: Feel free to contact if you have any questions you would like answered. My details are in the Members Directory!!

Re: NANNUP GETAWAY: October 10-11, 2020
Hi All,
Well the Great Nannup Getaway for 2020 has now come and gone and there has been some very favourable feedback from some of those who attended!!
In my opinion this weekend of riding some great roads with a fantastic bunch of happy go lucky people both new to the club and old was a terrific success!!
Cap that off with a good night at the hotel, spent socialising and dining whilst forming and forging new friendships and also gave others the chance to catch up with old mates again.
It was fantastic seeing so many riders bring their partners with them, some as pillions but also those that drove their cars down to join their partners or drove as couples to join in the fun.
It was great to have Clayton Cream and his band of merry men to take the time and to make the effort to come all the way down from as far away as Northampton and Geraldton to join in the fun and then for them to ride all the way back home again today........You guys are great
It is one thing to organise an event like this, my second attempt at organising a ride weekend to Nannup and another for it to be successful!!
So Credit where credit is due:
Peter Spencer set the ground rules for an enjoyable weekend away, First off by agreeing to my request for him to use his vastly superior knowledge to organise and write up an interesting and varied route to our destination and also to lead the ride there and back home!!
I think Peter did an outstanding job on both counts and is to be congratulated on doing such an outstanding and fine job
But here is a case of "Not Only but Also" as Peter took it upon himself to initiate, research and write up three separate "Papers" for us to try out and put into practice this trip.
The First Paper was an "Introduction To The Ride" which laid out general information on How the ride was to be run, Who the Ride Leader and Tail End Charlie were as well as naming those nominated to assist in maintaining some cohesion and stability in the group!
He also recorded on this paper Information about the Comfort Stops, The importance of informing the TEC if you wished to leave the group midway, General ETA's for both our Lunch Stop and ETA at our Destination etc.and Fuel Stops etc.
Peter also laid out on a second paper details of the "Cornerman System" and how it was to be used point by point!!
The third paper laid out the General Rules Of Group Riding and their Responsibilities.
These Three papers were issued to each rider at the beginning of the ride for them to study and learn!!
To reinforce these Papers I gathered and welcomed everyone together before the commencement of the ride and verbally briefed them on all the important points!!
We also had all riders record the Personal Details on the Rider Emergency Form!!
All Peters hard work come to fruition during the ride with the adoption of Cornerman System being an outstanding Success with the ride group remaining together without anyone being lost during the entire ride!!
The Introduction and General Ride Rules being issued helped prevent any confusion and generally speaking saved Peter and me having to answer a million queries at every stop as all riders had all necessary information on hand before we left on our trip.
I will present "Peters Papers" to the Club Committee for them to study and comment on with a view to refining the details for future consideration and use by any club member planning rides!!
Hearty Congratulations Peter your time and effort has been well spent and is what contributed most to such an outstandingly successful and happy ride group!!
Generally speaking Peters timing and guestimates were spot on. We were due to arrive at The Bush Shack Winery at 1130 and arrived 5 minutes early!
We were due to arrive in NANNUP between 1530 and 1600. I believe we arrived at approx. 1515!!
Finally it was all the lovely people who made the decision put in the effort to join us this weekend and bought with them fun and laughter and a great sense of humour that helped make the weekend so enjoyable and has inspired me to plan another trip next year!!
There were no outstanding incidents that occurred during both our rides to and from and during our stay overnight that I am able to report on and anyway, Whatever happens in NANNUP shall remain in NANNUP!!
Thank You once again one and all for joining in the weekend and I look forward to meeting you all again on the road or at JENNACUBINE for the Club Christmas Treat on the 21st of November!!
PS: My apologies to both Wes and Ross for forgetting to mention firstly Ross for manning the midship position to keep and eye on riders front and rear and secondly to Wes for the tremendous job he did of shepherding the Corner Markers back into the group as we TEC's caught up on the numerous corners during the ride!!
A job well done lads, Thank You!!

Re: NANNUP GETAWAY: October 10-11, 2020
Yes Swampy it was a great weekend thanks to your organising and briefings. All participants need to be congratulated and thanked for sticking to the Cornerman System which obviously worked.
Thank you for your kind words.
I suggest we incorporate any lessons leant into the “papers” and to introduce them to the club committee as you offered for perhaps endorsement to circulate to a wider audience for comments.
The “papers” are not cast in concrete and comments from anyone are welcome.
