Chris Mass in May

Post by Bozo »

There were a mass of Chris's at this mornings breakfast with almost a quarter of the attendees at Catalano's using that name as their formal handle. Fortunately Prof Dist, His Royal Griceness and Bozo are known by other names in the club and some suggestions were given to new member Chris about what he should be called seeing he is the fifth current member of the club to be called Chris.

The Nannup Airhead Run and Mothers' Day depleted the bikes strung along Albany Highway to just 17. Nurzo Steve was passing around a turned tapered shaft with a domed terminal that he had manufactured on his lathe...very impressive. Rod Rocket Peter and Julie were there with Julie laying down the law about her laundry being used as a motorcycle storage location now that Peter has filled the garage.

Six riders headed to Toodyay via Poodle Rock. Chris (C/5?), Prof Dist (C/2?), Bozo (C/3?), GS Bill, Rainer and Ted travelled through the Bickley Valley and past Mundaring Weir to get to the Lakes. Another ride group left just ahead of us and became mixed up with our group just after we passed the controlled burn crews and ten emus on Talbot West Road. Turning on to Qualen West Road at the silos we travelled to York via Cut Hill Road where a large piece of agricultural equipment was safely passed by the group on the winding road.

The York Northam Road is still impacted by road works but we eventually got to Katrine Road and through more roadworks to Toodyay. All of the restaurants were packed but we secured a spot upstairs at the bakery to watch the passing parade. Back to Mundaring via River Road, Sandplain Road, Salt Valley Road, Fernie Road, Toodyay Road, Bunning Road and Alice Road.

Perfect weather for a ride, a well behaved group and efficient tail end charlies. Thanks to GS Bill and Prof Dist for doing tail end charlie duties. Good to have Chris/5 join us. For once we had six different capacities of BMW bikes ranging from 650cc to 1600cc. A great day out.
