Pre Christmas Ride 23rd Dec.

Post by Swampy »

It has been suggested that we meet at the Dome in Byford this week and try an expedition to the South.

Unfortunately I will not be attending this ride but I am sure Pete or Brian will manage as they normally do!!

Have a good ride guys and girls and have a Wonderful Christmas!!

Swampy

PS. Will probably see you next Sunday at the Dome in Victoria Park.
"I love a sunburnt country, a land of sweeping plains.
Of rugged mountain ranges, of droughts and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons, I love her jeweled sea.
Her beauty and her terror, the wide brown land for me."

Swampy sorry you cannot attend our Southern Departure Ride on Thursday, but the show must go on. So as it is going to be a warm one we will leave Gloria Jeans Ascot at 7:30 to go down to Dome Byford for a 8:45 departure. B5 suggested Collie/Wellington Dam but let’s decide on the day. Wherever we go will be so much better than Christmas Shopping

Will see those starting from Gloria Jeans
The day will be warmer than original forecast so a longer run may not be the preferred option for the majority.
Goldie has passed on his apologies now cannot attend.

Due either to the weather or the location only six turned up at the Byford Dome. Four hardy riders headed south initially looping up past Serpentine Dam. At the bottom of the hill Bozo separated to head for home so it was down to three. We carried on through the curves on Corio Rd then back up through Pinjarra, Meelon and back down through Coolup. On along Gibbons and Dorsett Rd to cross the Forrest Hwy to carry along Lake Clifton Rd, on to Old Coast Road. Taking the scenic drive along the estuary before stopping at the Miami Bakery in Falcon.

The original intent was to carrying on up to Port Kennedy but decided against it due to the increased holiday traffic.
The outward southward leg was a comfortable 31 deg. When we turned to head towards the coast the temperature dropped to a cool 28 degree along old Coast Road.

After an early lunch we split again with Geoff heading south and Peter and myself headed for home via Lakes / Hopeland Roads and Tonkin Hwy. By this time the temperature had risen to 37 deg peaking at 39 while waiting for the traffic light to change at Kelvin Rd, While moving it was still quite comfortable.

Thanks all for your companionship

Thanks B5 for leading all of us  . Great to see Jeff Douglas on the 1600 ex PD. Didn’t notice the heat until the last 30m of the ride in suburbia

Thanks Brian/5 for leading us on a very interesting tour including some nice sweeping bends for me to wobble around on my new bike. Thanks to Pete for waiting for me. Was a great ride on a warm but pleasant day. The ride home was fun too, even at 35 degrees plus - 509km for the day on the big K16. Merry Christmas & see you next time.
