A small group of riders are leaving the metro area tomorrow morning for a celebratory ride through the beautiful South West with our destination being Walpole!!
We have booked overnight accommodation there and plan to have a few drinks with our evening meal and enjoy each others company with a few laughs.
Sunday we will return home by an alternate route and expect to get damp on the way home but that's all part of riding BMW's and belonging to a great club!
Ride report will follow.

South West Ride.
"I love a sunburnt country, a land of sweeping plains.
Of rugged mountain ranges, of droughts and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons, I love her jeweled sea.
Her beauty and her terror, the wide brown land for me."

Re: South West Ride.
It can be very annoying to spend so much time writing a ride report only to find it disappear in front of your eyes!!
They don't call me passion fingers for nothing folks!!
This is an abridged version of the original which will no doubt delight some!!
Scruff had the idea of doing a thousand kilometre ride to run in his new R1250 RT Triple Black then take it in for it's first service!!
However this wasn't going to happen as he clocked up One Thousand K's long before this trip occurred.
I guess you are all aware that Ross went without a bike for around 5 x months as he sold his R1200RS to me and then found there were no new RT's available in Australia!
His patience paid of in spades when he took delivery a few short weeks ago and appears to be delighted in his new purchase.
He had planned for a small group of us take a run down to Denmark and camp the night in a mates shed!! That plan fell through when a neighbour, recently separated took up residence in the shed and Scruff cancelled the trip.
I did a little research and found vacancies available in the Walpole Motel and we put it up for the group to decide whether that would suit?
All but one Sus member agreed to the plan and 5 of us gathered at the Shell Servo on South Western Hwy, Mount Richon for departure at 0800 hrs on Sat. 2nd April.
the weather was fine but overcast and humid as we departed for Waroona as our first stop via Del Park Road to Dwellinguo and Nanga rd. before we cruised down that delightful winding road to Waroona!!
A short break for a coffee and cakes before moving on to Collie and Donnybrook where we stopped for lunch.
Scruff had made up a well laid out route to Walpole, That is before Peter put a bee in everyone's bonnet by suggesting a side trip to his property near Northcliffe.
Plans are made to be changed and we rode on to Bridgetown and Manjimup before Pete took over the lead and we travelled on to Quinninup Tavern where we imbibed a quick pint with Pete also picked up a 6 pack for consumption on his smallholding!!
It wasn't long before we were creating clouds of dust which hung in the still air as we idled down a few kilometres of gravel road to finally arrive at the gate to Pete's property, Thick black dust coated both man and machine on the leaf strewn track to his bush dwelling.
Full credit to both Peter and Mei for establishing a lovely cosy home away from home in th e middle of the bush. They have achieved wonders with two large buildings, one for their home and the other a Workshop/Machine Shed complete with tractor, quad bike and chook chaser inside!
The 6 pack disappeared quickly as Peter showed us around!! Well Done Pete!!
A great place for a Club Weekend away with plenty of room to pitch a tent or roll out a swag?
It was late and pushed on into Walpole after 1700 hrs. A hower and a few beers were enjoyed in the Tavern before we settled down for a great meal of Sheep Shanks!! Delicious, Thank you Vic for the heads up mate!!
Most of us being past our prime called for an early night as we wanted an early start on Sunday morning.
We woke to the sound of heavy rain falling, which required the donning of wet weather gear!!
A quick coffee and toastie at the local BP servo saw us on the road by around 0745. It is a fantastic road through to Denmark only slightly dampened by the wet weather which was bucketing down with rain.
A fuel stop at Denmark then onto Mount Barker where the weather started to clear somewhat before carrying on through Cranbrook, Tambellup and Broomehill to Katanning.
We ditched the wet weather gear and moved on to Wagin and stopped at Narrogin for Lunch.
Scruffs plan was to ride to Brookton before turning West to the coast and home!
Plans were adjusted again as the group decided on Williams and the direct route through to Armadale.
Bad idea, Heavy traffic with many slow moving vehicle plus innumerable slows for road works slowed our progress whilst the rain came back with a vengeance bucketing down around the Boddington area.
Five of us eventually arrived in Armadale with four of us calling into the Narri Inn for a farewell drink before slipping our separate ways home which thankfully for me took all of 5 minutes once I refueled!!
Thank you Scruff, A great idea and well planned with a slight deviation to Peters. A very enjoyable ride on some great bike roads with some terrific company. One could not ask for more!!

Re: South West Ride.
Thanks Ross for leading us down to the South Coast. A mix of weather was predicted and enjoyed with no body winging about the dampness. Fantastic company, and of course all the Beemers purred.
Thanks Swampy for assisting with the logistics, TEC duties and the detailed ride report.
Yes Swampy you are right it is a great club to belong to.

Re: South West Ride.
Thanks Swampy for posting the report....a better choice of words than I would have chosen. Peters little detour was a good chance to see how the RT performed on the gravel.
Thanks all for accompanying me on the break-in ride.
If anyone is reading this that is thinking about the new RT 1250, don't procrastinate too long. You wont regret it.
