Wildflower Wander

Post by Bozo »

An interesting morning at Catalano's/Dome with the line up of bikes commencing with Patrick's BMW R100S that he imported from the US. Also there were Richard on a 80's Katana and Mike and Anna on Goldilugs or Franken Bike.

Seven left from the neutral assembly point between the two cafes for a run to check out the wildflowers. Max, Multimedia Mark, Water Mark, Mike + Anna, JC, Peter Bee and Bozo had a simple run to Gingers before heading into the Chittering Valley via Jenkins Road to get to Muchea East Road. We stopped at Didgi Didgi Ridge to be confused by the range of wildflowers. After a brief stop in Bindoon we encountered our first orchids, the common Cowslip Orchard (Calendia Flava) in amongst Leschenaultia and trigger plants on Crest Hill Road. A run to Wannamal was interrupted briefly by a battery problem with one of the bikes. Isopogons and Cowslips were the commonly spotted plants at Wannamal and Mogumber. A run along Yarwindah Road was halted by a far stretching field of Canola. turning just short of New Norcia we returned to the Bindoon Bakery to discuss sleeping, batteries and fuel consumption. The run home included Blue Plains Road and Lower Chittering Road for the ride to end at Bullsbrook.

Stunning colours in the countryside and dry roads were enjoyed by a happy group. Thanks to Peter Bee for running as tail end Charlie. Great to see Mike and Anna back on Goldilugs or Franken Bike.
