Social Ride

Post by gsrider »

If anyone is up to it after the Christmas gorging and interested, on Tuesday 27 Dec, meet at Midvale Caltex 8:30 for 09:00 departure to Bakers Hill, Bindoon or Gin Gin and home. The idea is for a social / ride at a leisurely pace.

On the morning of the ride seven bikes arrived at the Ampol (not Caltex) for the departure. Cookie and Karen came over to say hello and wish us the best.
Brian /5 offered to lead us through the hills via Parkerville, Mundaring, Mt Helena, Chidlow and through other roads I’d never been down (or up) to arrive at Bakers Hill.
Brian and Anthony were to leave us ther, so I lead Jono, Tom, DFS and Peter Bee along GEH to Clackline then across to Toodyay. There were plenty of bikes in Toodyay but the CC Cafe was closed, hmm.
Headed for Dewars Pool road, err sorry Jono didn’t realize there was a small patch of dirt in the roadworks just north of the town. Upon arrival at Bindoon it became apparent that the Bakehaus was closed! Had they run out of dough, a bit of a worry.
For the final leg, we departed noticeably lighter without the consumption of any pastry treats to ride through Chittering Valley to Bullsbrook, where we went our own way.

Thanks to all for attending, nice to catch up in particular Brian /5 for the good route through the hills and Peter Bee for TEC.
Weather was definitely in the Goldilocks zone.

All the best for the New Year

Hi Ross, Glad you guys had a good day out riding today!!

Just for your info. Cola Cafe closed this week to give Bec (the owner) a Break after a hectic year, especially now she is running the business solo now as her husband is unable to return to work as a result of his stroke!!

May I wish everyone a very Happy New Year and many more days of riding pleasure!!

Of rugged mountain ranges, of droughts and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons, I love her jeweled sea.
Her beauty and her terror, the wide brown land for me."

Hi Swampy,

Was thinking that they had had a hard year and maybe short of staff etc. Probably applies to a number of businesses.
