Challenging Combination

Post by Bozo »

A great turn out at C1 and D1 with Rob bringing his BMW 1200CL, a rare bike with a bull shark look. John, not Wightman, brought a US Import R90S in vivid orange, with Goldie saying that it took him back many years when John and he bought those bikes new.

Eleven riders, Frank, Just John, Brian/5, Goldie, R90S Mark, Wightman, His Royal Griceness, Rainer, DFS, Peter Bee and Bozo had a delayed start with a stainless steel combination lock loop not responding to its programmed numbers. The rider was able, with help from Noel to free his helmet, to join the ride group. It may have been a time when an angle grinder was needed on a motorcycle.

It was a trailer trailing type of day as we followed two of them into the shaded roads of the scarp. A quick stop at Canning Dam before the routine run to Byford. Lots of Harley Davidson Baggers were also out. In 2023 an attempt is made each ride to go on a new section of road. It has been over ten years since we did a loop to the Serpentine Pipehead Dam and that plan ended in a locked gate. The next variation was to go up the twisting Hines Road and loop back. North Dandalup local, Goldie, was convinced the ride leader was lost but it was intentional to head up and back on the same bitumen road.

We ran into an old club member, Ron Kyle, at the Blue Wren, which prompted a lot of discussion about the early years of the club. We headed home via Pinjarra, Corio Road, Hopeland Road Lightbody Road and Kargotich Road but not before Bozo had hit another locked gate on Oakley Road.

Thanks to Peter Bee for running as tail end Charlie and for a happy and understanding group that made the ride very enjoyable.

Thanks Bozo for orchestrating another interesting ride. Also thanks to Noel for assisting me to finally manipulate my helmet combination lock to open it and allow me to catch up with the ride. I’ll go for a keyed lock next.
