Dry Run to Bindoon via Coondle

Post by Bozo »

Another solid turnout at Catalano's and Dome with Prof Dist making an appearance on his BMW inspired Ural Outfit. Hidden within its underbelly was a gremlin bell. A gremlin or guardian bell is only effective in warding off bad luck, misfortune or malfunction if it is given as a gift and hangs close to the ground.

Ten riders were assured that the damp Dwellingup debacle would not be repeated and were assured that the risk of rain in Toodyay and Bindoon was 0%. David, His Oiliness Nick, Sophie, Pete 2V, Multimedia Mark, Rainer, Rob, K100, R90S Mark and Bozo breezed past the airport only to be surprised by a bike falling off a rapidly accelerating SUV, only held on by an occy strap. Luckily we were able to give it space. Enjoying the dry roads we ascended the scarp at Haddrill Road and took a deviation onto the Rollinghills Road loop.

On O'Brien Road, we were held up by a trio of sports bike riders. One rider managed to drop his bike as we pulled into the Brock Memorial. Image shows the bend in the distance where Peter Brock came unstuck in September 2006.

After a brief stop in Gidgegannup we made our way to Fernie Road to access the enjoyable Salt Valley Road and were treated to a colourful display of Verticordia as we travelled down Folewood Road. A brisk run on Coondle West Road and Dewars Pool Road got us to Bindoon where Chili Con Carne was replaced with cream buns. As we went to leave there was some humour with a Harley Davidson needing to be push started. We headed home by doing Ridgetop Ramble in reverse and a clear run through the Chittering Valley to end up at Bullsbrook. The ride ended here but unbeknown to most of us so did the functionality of Mark's GS.

What would have been the outcomes of the Bike carrying SUV, the sports bike rider, the Harley Davidson rider and Mark if their bikes had been fitted with gremlin bells?

Thanks to Mark for running as tail end Charlie and for the group in cooperating in agreeing to ride some of my favourite roads.

The only rain experienced was after the ride had ended.
