Thursday 28th December Ride

Post by bigmac906 »

Merry post Xmas cheers to all. Another Thursday has appeared, the last 1 before 24, so, as you are all on holidays and have no excuses not to ride, we will see you from 7am at Gloria Jeans coffee shop at Atlas service centre on Great Eastern hwy in Redcliffe. Leaving for Mundaring at 7 45am sharp to Mojos and the Dome, take your pick. The last Thursday run will depart Mundaring around 9-9.15am. Ho ho ho.

Thanks Mark, I won’t be there unfortunately as I must make the best of my time with my youngest son and grandson visiting from Amsterdam. Enjoy

A very large turnout for the Thursday run from Ascot to Mundaring and for coffee at Mundaring. Brian/5 led a group of eight on quiet cool roads up the scarp to meet up with one rider exiting a closed Mojos and nine others at Mundaring Dome. Rainer and Lefty spotted two additional BMWMCC members making a total of twenty of us at Dome. Swampy and Co headed to York. The other group were still deciding their destination.

The other group

With most of our regular cafés being closed the destination end up being Bindoon Bakehaus. Nine riders departed out for a run through Parkerville with an attempt to find Hidden Valley. Missed Molley’s Trail to exit McDowell Loop. Tail-End Charlie, Chris patiently waited for us to return after finding a few dead ends. Finally ended up finding Hidden Valley via Boyamya Rd. After this all my navigation errors were not noticeable. Even ended up on some roads that I had not tried.

Carried on via the woops on Lancewood Ave to head down to the Great Northern Hwy via Weir Rd. Then behind Gingers along Orange Ave to see how much the Clementine Estate had grown. A brief break at the entrance of Ellenbrook Speedway entrance before heading back to the Great Northern Hwy via Warbrook Rd. Noted that the Stock Rd access to Tonkin Hwy is now open. On through Bullsbrook and up Chittering Valley Rd to go through the back blocks via Jenkins and Morley Rds before returning to the Chittering Rd. and on to Bindoon via the Ridgetop Ramble.

Considering that the Bakehaus had only just opened after the Christmas Break it was not overly crowded. For those that were particular on their choice of pie there was a slight delay before the next batch came out of the oven. Although windy, as it was a tail wind the bike was purring along. After the cool ride up to Mundaring the temperature was ideal.

After lunch the group split up with the majority electing to return home via Chittering Valley.
Thanks all – a great last Thursday ride of the year,
B/5
