First Sunday Ride of 2024

Post by Bozo »

Another spirited gathering of the Club at the festive season alternative cafe, Dome Vic Park. Great to hear Fiery Ross' version of the Parkerville fires and how many idiots park over clearly marked fire hydrants as well as how few people know that the blue reflectors in the middle of roads indicate the location of fire hydrants on the side of the road. Nurzo seems to still be in the wars with his shoulder whilst Nick seems to be on the mend.

Eleven riders, Mick S, Medic Mike, R90S Mark, Cameron, Bruce, David P, Rainer, His Royal Griceness, Pete 2Volts, Peter Bee and Bozo, did a zig zag through the Bickley Valley and ended up taking Peet Road to get to Soldiers Road and Churchman's Brook Dam. It was here that the keen eyed HRG spotted bubbling duco on the tank of Pete 2 volts bike that smelled of fuel. Pete 2 volts headed home chaperoned by HRG dropping the numbers to nine.

On Nettleton Road we were held up behind an historic Ford V8 GT that was either stuck in gear or was speed limited by the temperature of its engine. A heady mix of burnt oil, overheated gasket sealant and a burnt plastic smell ended when it turned off and let us pass. There was a major motor cycle event on in Jarrahdale with a mass of bikes at the Post Office cafe.

We had a break at Serpentine Dam interrupted by the sound of sports bikes revving outrageously up the hill.

Road works are about to commence on Kingsbury Drive just past Karnet for the next few months.

A pleasant run up Del Park Road was followed by a courtroom discussion at the Blue Wren. A ride through the shaded roads of Lane Poole went up a notch for an exhilarating burst of twisties on Nanaga Brook Road. The normal run home from Waroona via Burnside Road, Corio Road, Rapids Road and Hopeland Road ended at Hopeland where the ride finished.

A great group and excellent work by Peter Bee as tail end Charlie. Hoping that Pete 2Volts is not Mr January in the 2024 Calendar of incendiary misadventures.

I'm pleased to report a safe return home yesterday without the bike going on fire.
