ASTRO
With Astro Rob offering to lead us on a merry Xmas Thursday ride the anticipation was so high for the ten riders we left a few minutes early for the run up to Mojos. Unfortunately with Bozo efficiently using his time with the just in time principle he missed us by minutes and beat us to Mojos. Rob lead us past the airport to High Wycombe, Maida Vale, Helena Valley, Glen Forrest, along Strettle Rd ( a new road to the group majority) into Mahogany Creek and finally Mojos in Mundaring.
The numbers swelled as we enjoyed the Xmas Fruit cakes compliments of Mojos, thank you.
With the lunch stop of the Bakers Hill Pie Shop as a target, an eager fourteen riders followed Rob out of Mundaring through Sawyers Valley, Mt Helena, Gidgegannup then an interesting loop off Toodyay Rd into Morangup back onto Toodyay and down Lovers Lane.
Just after we turned, as TEC, I noticed and heard the lights and sirens of two motorcycle police rapidly approaching me from behind. I dutifully indicated and pulled to the left as they shot past on a mission. For me joy as they were not interested in me but thinking about the “ Young and Restless” up at the lead end, enjoying the sweeping curves of Lovers lane. Fortunately they were not the reason for the pursuit so we can only assume they were heading to Julimar Rd.
Short fuel stop in Toodyay and off to Katrine Rd, linking to Southern Brook Rd leading us back onto the GEH and heading into Grass Valley. Past the bogged Water Corporation truck, think they found the leak, and on to Carter Rd, Northam to York Rd and utilising the Burges Siding Rd onto Spencer’s Brook Rd. Use of Trimmer, GEH, Eadine and GEH had us gliding into Bakers Hill at 12:20pm, lunchtime.
Normal chit chat, tasty pastries and cooling drinks. For some the way home was straight down the GEH whilst others took the more scenic routes,
A huge thanks to Astro Rob for a well planned route which I know would have taken some time to plot.
335klms for me with warm but not hot weather and a great group of riders utilising corner marking to keep the group connected, moving and no lost riders.
A great way to finish Thursday rides for Xmas and Merry Xmas to all. ^
