Thursday 26th Dec – DOME MUNDARING

Post by brian/5 »

Merry Christmas to all,

and for those that have recovered enough for a ride on Boxing Day, a standard 7:30am departure is planned from Gloria Jeans Ascot to ride up to the Dome in Mundaring for a 9:30’ish departure.
DDD to be decided – limited choice due to holiday closures.

Gloria Jeans will be closed but for those that can not start without a coffee it will be available at the Atlas Servo. The weather for the last Thursday ride for this year is ideal with 100% (very high) chance of no rain and a maximum temperature forecast of 27 deg. You cannot expect better for a summer’s day.

All the best for the new year.
May you stay upright on inflated tyres.

Very surprised that we go a quota with over half a dozen turning up for the ride up the hill. As the machine in the servo was broken those needing a morning coffee hit before starting missed out. Cookie even turned up boxerless to see us off. We followed the standard P-Bee Helena Valley route up to Mundaring.

Waiting for us at the Dome was DFS, Sophie & N-Nick. With no other offers, B5 offered to lead a ride along the foothills to run to the Po’s Kitchen in Jarrahdale. Nine riders left Mundaring to go out via Hidden Valley, the Woops to descend to the foot hills along Weir Rd. Along. We had a kangaroo decide to take the lead for a short section along Litchfield Prom. Finally decided it was with the wrong mob and exited left, via a pedestrian access into the bush.

We had a pause at Hardinge Park after which Sophie and John left the group. Now down to seven who head up into the hills along Canning Mill Road. Then Brookton Hwy, Canning Dam Rd, Albany Hwy to turn down to Jarrahdale.

Two decided that they had had enough food and did not stay for Lunch. After eating we made our own way home. A great ride with cool weather and light traffic.
Thanks, Ralph for keeping the group together as TEC
