Eveready Ride

Post by Bozo »

Excellent turn out at Diverso this morning including Cookie on his restored BMW R75 /6. Good to see Andrew, who has been busy building a bitumen road to Mount Holland - another 100 kms for road bikes to tour.

18 riders left to do a run to Waroona via Lane Poole and the Nangas. Rob, Rod Rocket Peter, Ted, Sophie, Navigator Nick, R90S Mark, Lefty, David P, Mick S, Wightman, Nev, Cameron, JonO, Dinga, Ralph, AAA Anthony, Peter Bee and Bozo were surprised by a light refreshing rain and little traffic.

All went well until the stop at Canning Dam where one of the high tech bikes refused to start. Peter Bee came to the rescue with a CR2030 button battery for the key fob after all other options were explored. The hiccup meant corner markers were sitting wondering what had happened behind them but it all was sorted and the group regathered at Nettleton Road. A random American dropped in a BMW with a keep left reminder on his windscreen.

We breezed through Dwellingup and had a surprisingly simple run through the Lane Poole reserve to get to the enjoyable twisties before a stop at Waroona at the Bakery.

Again a trouble free run up Corio and Hopeland Roads where the ride ended at Hopeland School.

Thanks to a patient group, a well prepared tail end Charlie, Peter Bee, and cooler weather it was a great ride.

Thanks Bozo for a well constructed ride. Special thanks to Cameron who suggested swapping fob batteries which lead to resolution of the problem and to Dinger and Sophie who returned to Canning Dam to locate us. Lessons learnt, for later model BMW’s, carry the spare key and know where to locate it to start the barst… bike  carry a spare CR2032 fob battery.
