Sounds like a great ride. I'm envious

Just a quick tip. Take extra care with blind crests and blind corners on those Pilbara mine roads up around Tom Price - some drivers up there like to take up the whole road!

Cheers

Gidday Ben,
I had originally thought that I had no chance of going on this little jaunt, but am now giving it serious consideration.
A couple of questions. Firstly, how much camping is involved, or do you intend to do it the comfort way ? Secondly, I know that I can get 400 km out of a tank, cruising along, but what is the availability of fuel ? Do I need extra range ?
Cheers,
Gav.

I can't stand it.
I am slaving away at a job and you guys are living the life I want. Well, I don't surrender that easily, so...
Just to make sure you don't get lost, do you mind if I tag along for the first day to Northampton? I will then ride back to Perth Sunday.
Are you camping the first night, because I can recommend a spot on the Murchison river just past Kalbarri. It is an established 24 hr road stop with fire rings and chemical toilets, reasonably spread out on both sides of the river.  It is about 540km away. S27degrees 49.650 min E 114degrees 41.331 min. There may be vans.
'Course you can't beat bush camping, but I don't know any around here.
Also, if it works for you, don't miss Munjini Gorge just west of Newman,  -22.489630, 118.735930, the black top runs thru it. Take a photo for me Jon.
Regards
Kev

Well what a ride. Thanks for letting me tag along for the first day. Mind you, it wasn't all that hard to keep up. Left 7.30 from Midland, full breakfast at Gingin 10.00, full lunch Dongarra 2.30, get my drift. Took 1/2 hour of discussion to decide the next stop. As there were no Nuns at the Convent, so we thought we might as well push on to camp on the Murchison, 5.30. So a nice easy sociable ride in good weather. The camp was brilliant, as was the fire and the conversation. Look forward to the pics and the film from your helmet cam Jon. Everyone was eager for a big trip when I sadly returned to Perth in the cold and rain Sunday morning.
