Thanks for that Richard, although to clear up a few points, it has been said I talk in my sleep and probably will talk when I'm dead too.
The Ambulance Nurse mentioned something about me hitting a big rock, but I was a bit concussed, so don't remember too much about that.
Anyway, this should probably be a new thread titled superheroes.
I was lying on my back resting and enjoying a spot of sun when two mean nasty bikies came up harrassing me and complaining about me being in their way.
They sat me on a chair on the side of the road, but do you think that would be the end of it? NO, they got another chair and took turns sitting next to me ribbing me about my vacation choices.
What's this, auditions for getaway?
The next superheroes were the ones we all know and love, the remote area Doctors and Nurses. Be well insured, because a night with a nurse is very expensive.
Finally there is slow and steady wins the race, John Wightman. He took off to Find Payne and came back with the whole town gunning for me. Yes they did give him a ute to pick up my poor bike, then lock it up before it could get itself into more trouble, but I have just had all my birthdays at once.
At 9am Tuesday Dec 3rd, a big rental truck arrived driven by Len and his son. They are the new owners of Paynes Find. They said it had been lost for a few years and are going to put it back on the map. There wasn't anything else in the truck, so once they unloaded my bike and all the bits and pieces, they invited me and the club over for a BBQ. He refused payment, saying I could buy him a beer when I visited. He also said that since we like camping there will be lots of grass areas to camp, and with a bit of notice, he will put a pig or sheep on a spit.

So many times have I heard this next statement.

If it happened to me I would hope you fellows would do the same for me.
This is Australia.
(I wonder if this is in John Bloody Howards citizen test.)
I have washed my bike and there are a few bits broken.
It rides like a bag of shit.
The insurance can have a look and put it down or repair it.

Either way, the trip was an outragous success.
I now know quite clearly that it is a 20 year old road bike and I am a 53 year old dreamer. Perfect combination really. Now I wonder where I can get a 21" front wheel...

Saturday 3 January is looking a bit empty on my Calendar. An ideal opportunity to shoot up for a night of revelry in Paynes's Find. That way we can re-enact the incidents leading up to Kev's spill, have a good proper look over the old battery in Payne's Find (and even find some cold ales in the tavern)

Hi Kev,
Sorry to hear about your fall.
Glad you are not badly hurt, and on the mend.
Has Peter mentioned the DESERT RAID yet?

See you soon
Lefty
