As a Xmas orphan I am off on a 5 day tour of the Great Southern leaving Perth Saturday morning for Albany. Sunday Esperance, Monday Cape Arid NP and return to Perth via Lake King in 2 days.
I dream of the days when the BMW club did organised rides to various locations down south, in fact it was the main reason I joined the club. What does the future hold? Are we to be a social club that does not do organised rides or a motorcycle club that does organised rides?
Merry Christmas Social clubbers.

Re: ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS A RIDES CALENDAR
Would love to join you for cape arid, but alas I am working, but would like some info on the trip through there as this is my next ride on the drawing board.
I also remember a time when men such as Shane, Ben, johno and alike would head off on adventures into the unknown, alas those guys must be too old for it now?
So.... Who's up for a Cape Arid Adventure, c'mon Shane start working out the distances between fuel stops, January??

I'm still out there doing the dirt thing Richard...
(how's the new 1150?)
May 2012 - did Cape York back to Perth across the top. 8000kms and 6000kms of it was dirt. Best ride ever.
2013 - big year for me!!
Jan to Mar 2013 - no can do. Got some pollies to get elected into Parl.
April 2013 - short caravan trip; double bonus points at home
May 2013 planned & locked in - 8000kms... transcon Kalg to Forrest; painted desert in the Flinders; Camerons Cnr; Birsdville; Plenty; GCR; home.
Jun/Jul - caravan trip to NT; treble bonus points at home
August 2013 planned & locked in - Rudall River; then if I can get extra time off (as if), maybe Punmu; Kunawarritji; Gary Hwy; Gunbarrel; Carnegie; Wiluna; home
~~Oct 2013 - want to do another Goldfields ride.
August 2014 planned & locked in - Drysdale Stn (OCR) then up to Mitchell Plateau, Kalumburu.
And plenty more.
...
I hear you Paddy... the road guys seem to be getting a few rides done in recent years - good stuff. On this forum, the dirt rides seem to be mostly 1-dayers around Perth. The longer dirt rides seem to be mostly organised off-line these days.

No not you, I meant the other Shane.....
Yeh the 1150s great, 2 days back from Adelaide no problems apart from the MAN FLUE!
Sounds like you've got a full book for the next few years.
Me, I'm doing the gibb river rd on the Ural next year, now there's a challenge!

Re: ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS A RIDES CALENDAR
Greetings Beemers,
So, after repeated requests for a rides calendar, hop over to our club website and click on 'Plan your Ride'.
Or to hasten the experience: http://www.bmwmccwa.asn.au/Ride-Planner.
I have added public holidays as long weekends, state school holidays, AGM, as many known events as I could scrape up from the last year, Dinners (Xmas and otherwise), and other rumours I hear around the traps. Local, State, National and International events are listed to cater to all tastes and perversions... oops, did I say 'perversions!'... that'll be because BMW riders are just weird, check out their usernames on this forum, if you think I'm poorly informed... Some of us may even give riding in India and the USA a try, so throw those events in as well.
Public holidays are referenced from the WA Commerce website. WA State school holidays come from the WA Education department website. Foundation Day is now called Western Australia Day
May, June and October are currently very empty. These are some of the better riding months.
Take note that a lot of dates are TBA (To Be Advised). Feel free to pick-up an event / ride, organise it, take the lead, plan a course or what-ever...
However, it does give you all something to plan around... so plan away
