Rainer, Bolton, Titanic Paul and Bozo set out from Catalanos on an insect collecting excursion through the countryside north of Perth.
An unremarkable ride to the picturesque coastal town of Guilderton was followed by an enjoyable ride up Cowalla Road. A simple turn east highlighted the insect laden headwind gusting up to 80 kilometres an hour. The heavy bass thud of blowflies and bees were interspersed with a symphony of smaller insects. The group travelled along Orange Springs Road where Bolton, having collected his quota of insects headed home down the Brand Highway.
Rainer, Bozo and Titanic Paul continued along Mogumber Road West where thankfully the greater tree cover reduced the headwind. The countryside continued to look fantastic in its later phase of wildflowers with many patches of smokebush.
Passing through Mogumber the trio caused amusement to the Harley Davidson riders ensconced at the Mogumber Hotel. A red car pulling out to pass without its driver checking his rear vision mirror caused the only burst of adrenaline for the whole trip.
Pies at the Bindoon Bakehaus were followed by twisties in the Chittering Valley.
Four hours riding meant one hour of bike cleaning to remove the pattern of grey, black and yellow that was embossed on the front of each bike making them look much like Beemr Daves 1200RS.
Still very much worth getting out into the countryside.
The small group of riders meant there was no need for corner markers or a tail end charlie which could have meant no content for a ride report.
