Bill and Doris, Rainer and Di, Brian/5 and Bozo headed into the hills to look for an interesting ride that could be used for the BMW Anniversary.
It was a magnificent day to explore the Darling Ranges and the path taken had very little traffic.
As is the case with any ride involving Bozo there were a sprinkling of cyclists including two lollipop men wielding massive Stop/Slow signs. Fortunately we only hit a few stragglers.
Bickley Valley was almost as good as Victoria said Brian/5, Mundaring Weir quickly slipped into the rear vision mirror as did the MGB's in the Coles Car Park. A couple of cycling clowns with no helmets were safely passed as we headed to Mount Helena.
Bunning Road between Mount Helena and Gidgegannup was surprisingly good. Rainer pointed out a variation to O'Brien Road and we took the loop with its interesting corners.
The woops at Lancewood Drive were a variation to ride full of twisties.
Down the scarp at Brigadoon we had to stop for a cappuccino. Fortunately Taylors was not far away. After a coffee and a chat we headed home.
An enjoyable ride with great company.

Re: Sussing out the Anniversary Ride
We were investigating possible ride routes for the up-coming 40th anniversary pre-celebration venue ride. The idea is prior to the function proper starting,we intend for participants to start at a start point in the city and traverse a route which will hopefully take in some of our immediate metro and surrounding nicer scenic roads covering a couple of hours ride time, ending up at the venue where the 40th celebrations will take place. We intend having up to 3 rendezvous points on the route whereby riders can join the group that left the city venue so the main group adds riders as the group traverses the route. We have incorporated a bit of a ride into the event to encourage more interest in the celebration of our clubs 40th anniversary. We may end up with a 100 or so riders, not necessarily all BMs but riders interested in celebrating our anniversary with us to make this a memorable happening.
We will tweak the route in the coming weeks by trying keep the timings to a couple of hours ride time , finding the best route to avoid bottlenecks, keeping safety in mind and simplifying navigation so riders don't get lost or separated . Once we have sorted these aspects we will publish the final route so riders can arrive on-mass at the 40th venue at around the same time for the celebrations to start. We hope to have a big group of riders participating in the ride.
The final venue and dates are still being worked out by the Pres ( Jono') who has canned the previous venue we were considering at the Associates rugby club . Members may recall this was discussed at the last monthly meeting and was to be held on the 14 th Sept. It was considered to be too expensive so back to the drawing board.
Members and guests will be hearing more of this important club function with dates and timings in the coming weeks.

Re: Sussing out the Anniversary Ride
Watch this for the over 50s
Why we ride? Our club seems to have a predominance of members getting into the old fart category. members will be please to know we aren't the only old farts that enjoy bike riding
