OK, here's the Plan
Meet at Catalanos on Saturday 1st March 8:oo am for 8:3oam departure.

Ride down Albany Highway, turn right just past Arthur River and head for Boyup, and then into Bridgetown.

If there is a large crowd of us and no room at the Caravan Park, we will head for the Sunnyside Reserve on Tweed Rd, about 20 k's out of town
I know some folk are keen to "bush-camp" rather than Caravan Park.


If we find the reserve is 'occupied' , we can take the next option, and stay at Richard and Ev's place.

I think Jamie will be leading me/us from Cat's to Sunnyside thru the bush...we will probably check out local trails on Sunday and check out Nannup at the same time. We will meander back on Monday...once again, probably thru the bush where possible.

An enthusiastic bunch gathered at Catalano's this morning.

Steve looked like his bike had just left the desert being professionally decorated with dust.

Steve and Jamie were taking the back roads and headed off first.

Lefty (with trailer), Tom and Marian, DFS, Pommy John and Cookie headed out shortly afterwards with Bozo tagging along. A Cookie family rescue vehicle brought up the rear.

Heavy acceleration caused Bozo to pop a rear indicator light. DFS was travelling immediately behind when the $27 piece of plastic headed west. Bozo u-turned only to find DFS pointing to a white patch of crushed plastic on the road.

This incident split the group with Lefty and Tom going on ahead. Bozo turned off to go to Jarrahdale ... hopefully the rest caught up with Lefty and Tom in Williams.

Jamie and I took all the back roads to Sunnyside reserve near Bridgetown on Saturday. The idea was to camp there and failing that, we would go to the Caravan Park in town. We arrived around 4.30pm to find about 20 locals starting to celebrate a 50th birthday. Jamie and I weren’t sure whether staying there was a good idea but the locals convinced us to stay and help celebrate. Within minutes we both had a bad feeling about this. We set up camp, joined the group and had a couple of beers. Toward sunset and after some heavy drinking, smoking cones, bongs and joints (them, not us) they cooked up a simple BBQ and offered us some food. They were a pretty rowdy bunch….at times aggressive toward each other and it was not a very relaxing evening. Went to bed (about 100 metres from their ‘camp’) and tried to sleep. Music blaring, loud voices screaming and yelling and then there was the circle work and doughnuts at 2 in the morning. Pretty scary stuff. Got some sleep and woke about 6.00am with a view of quietly packing up and discretely leaving with our virginity (and dignity). No such luck. Within minutes most of them were up and into the hair of the dog and getting their second wind. Jamie made a friend (she wanted a ride on Jamie’s bike) but we did manage to get away without further fuss. Thankfully, the line between us and the exit was nowhere near where they were camped.
An interesting evening and not one I would like to repeat in a hurry. There is a lot to be said for ‘wild camping’. I certainly felt a lot safer there last year when camped with all the biker ferals (OCBR).
The rest of the weekend was pretty tame by all accounts….day trip zig zagging thru the Blackwood Valley on Sunday and then return to Perth on Monday. Did some interesting fire trails in pine forests (which was not part of the plan) but it just emphasised to me how versatile a big loaded GS can be.
Looking forward to Easter.

Are you sure that you both didn't come home riding "Side Saddle" mate .............I mean there's camping and there's......... "Camping"

Well you guys should have known better being more mature and not into immature drongo yobbos "camping" and being silly buggers who probably didn't even have real bikes,and arrived in utes or probably those noisy American bikes ridden with open faced helmets by the description of the scene you evolved in your thread.
If you took the trouble to find your real mates from the WA BMW club that were also expecting your camping company you could have had a great relaxing W/E as always with fellow club members even thou they were black bears. :

A top weekend started Saturday with lots of variety through the forests to Collie ,good gravel ,deep gravel ,accross old rail bridges and a bit of tec riding along the power lines into Collie followed by country lanes ( good gravel) to boyup and on to our digs for the night
Yes I think deliverance was mentioned under the breath ,still a great place to stay on the Blackwood
Next morning hooked up with the crew at Brigetown caravan park ,a good turn out of both clubs followed by a day ride to nanup and back through some sensational countryside ,managed to traverse some of the same countryside as was done on the big bike training weekend ,one of the goat tracks had us manhandleing the bikes around a 1.5 m dia tree accross the track ,which paved the way for some great tracks into nanup
After a relaxing night with the guys at the caravan park we headed of home of course by dirt but that's enother story as Steve has said it is amazing what the big bikes can do ,in the wright hands
