Post races ride might go something like this for me...

Sunday morning - if the weather is peachy, I think I'll head north past the Kennedy Ranges then turn NW at Mt Sandiman. Turn W at the Lyndon Rd tjcn; 124kms later turn right on to NWC Hwy just south of Minilya. Pop up to Coral Bay, pitch tent, have a couple of frothies at the Coral Bay pub plus fish (always fresh) n chips from the cafe.

Monday - slab it south. Smell the roses, maybe check the Blowholes, find a fruit stall at a Carnarvon plantation, slab south till late arvo. Probably head 10kms up Butchers Track to find a quiet campsite with firewood and out of earshot of road trains.

Tuesday - slab it home via Indian Ocean Dve. No time for detours. Get home late arvo.

Company welcome for any part or all of it.

Yes - maybe not a chain though

A rather gay Harley rider look there.

Not a lot of recent rain in the Gascoyne,

Murchison had 3.8mm last Sunday and less than a millimetre since.

Forecast north of Mullewa is for no rain until Tuesday after the races.

All Murchison routes to the Races are open http://www.murchison.wa.gov.au/road-con ... eport.aspx

Gascoyne Roads are also open other than Pigandy Road and should be nice and dry by the time we get there http://www.uppergascoyne.wa.gov.au/Road-Conditions.aspx

Very tempting except the Great Ocean Road part 8)
May stop at Wooleen on the way up and arrive later then do the Coral Bay circuit, just need to see how it would fit with work

Got back yesterday from a brilliant trip to the Gascoyne.

Dropped in to see Wilks, Digger, Eddy and Guy camped at the race track before heading to Mount Augustus with Paul and JonO.

The wildflowers were magnificent....these were at Wahroonga on the Wahroonga - Pimbee Road.

Image

Roads were generally OK and skies blue. Mount Augustus was well worth the visit. Paul and JonO on the way to Mount Augustus

Image

The trip was relatively trouble free with the corrugations shearing my GoPro mount...luckily it hit me on the way off the bike and I was able to stop. Paul found the camera none the worse for wear after its excursion.

We saw some unique species including the Dawson's Burrowing Bee which only lives for a few months in its adult phase but is massive having a 45mm wingspan. It was quite daunting seeing hundreds of them rising from their mud burrows in the track surface and not knowing how aggressive they were.
