Digger
No alphabet run this year otherwise wild camels could not have stopped me from doing Zanthus.
I might wait for the TAR to be sealed.

Or for a real "Off Road Experience" you could always attempt Ahab's driveway

Weather for the Border Run looks promising
Eucla http://www.weatherzone.com.au/long-rang ... n/wa/eucla
Goldfields http://www.weatherzone.com.au/long-rang ... goldfields
Great Southern http://www.weatherzone.com.au/long-rang ... t-southern
Heaps of WA Far Riders are going http://farriders.com.au/FarRides/RiderList.php?recNo=99
Most on bitumen I expect......sorry Digger but there are two BMW GS's in the list so it is vaguely connected to this thread.

Another Thread hijack....
Once again this thread has gone off topic....if anyone wants to take a less than standard route to the Border than pls advise. If not, pls start another Thread dedicated to the Border Run for what I consider 'routine business'.

Honestly you can do it to the border in 11hrs.
That way you don't have to concentrate for long at all.
And that's with fuel stops as well
Easy
Actually, I could stop for a pint at the border. Then head home.
That way it's just a day trip.

Most problems can be solved with a suitable application of throttle!

Why is it that I feel like I'm swimming against the current here?

Re: Apply For Your Leave Now...Border Run and Beyond - 2015
The strength of the club is that we all come from different backgrounds, have different approaches to life and have different ways of enjoying ourselves.
I came across a group of BMW/Yamaha riders travelling across the Nullarbor that were limiting themselves to 400 km a day and were travelling at 90kph because they thought that was safe .....good on them .....and yes I did decline the offer to ride with them for their day trip from Balladonia to Coolgardie before their next overnight stop at Northam.
What unites us is the freedom that motorcycling offers albeit with a higher risk than other forms of transport.
A high proportion of members use good safety gear and prepare their bikes well for the conditions they face to help manage that risk.
Many are used to travelling long distances in challenging conditions and have their own techniques to maintain concentration and travel safely. Most of us have faced hazards that arose from other drivers, wildlife and road conditions that were not necessarily related to the speed that we were doing and were overcome because we had invested in ABS, twin front discs, good tyres and good riding gear.
The Forum is used to inform and entertain as well as to embarrass. The odd posting is out of context with this light hearted approach. Some postings are misunderstood (like most of mine) and others may unintentionally upset other members.
Let's act as if our hides have the same abrasion resistance of our protective gear and move on so that Digger can change out of his budgie smugglers and get back on his bike.

I see that my comments were pruned as well, but the Nanna state comment remains, if you are going to have a public forum then not all comments will be agreeable to all, however, in all fairness, the replies should be left so that the thread doesn't become disjointed. Or erase everything that is not relevant to Diggers original post.
