Sproket

Would be glad to relay my experience on the postie bike challenge for anyone interested. One of the participants that was in the group I went with in 2006 was trying to get a spot as a interviewer on TopGear Australia and put together a sort of doco on the ride. It is now on U-Tube as a 10 section series of U-Tube exerts. They are quite well done and they certainly give a good idea about how the event is run, the disappointment of those that don't finish, the challenge of actually completing the event and all the cameradie and fun that happens during the event. The guy didn't get a spot on the show and the $5000+ entry is probably more than I want to spend in doing another one. The U-tube site can be opened up with the following link

ps the ride to Dwellingup today was very enjoyable

Bump
are any folk considering doing anything in the way of supporting/ riding to/with for this years Postie Bike Challenge?
It will be another 4 years until they're back, so is anyone thinking about some sort of club representation??
It will surely attract some media attention, and so would this also be good for our club?
What can we offer in the way of support?
Do we just ride out and take photos?
Jump on here and lets get some thoughts......

doesn't get much media exposure but is a lot of fun. A mate of mine did it a few years back and had a ball, he's still got his bike.

Thanks for your post and reminder.
It would be good to have some representation there.
I am planning to be there for the start, and see if there is a ride out, so can members considering the same, please add their names below, so we can get some idea of numbers and arrange a RV?

Hi Folks,
Having posted the info about the Postie Bike Challenge I should probably introduce myself.
My name is Kathy and I started riding in 1978 but took a ten year break from riding (between 1986 and 1996) after my daughter was born - my husband and I transported our son around in a sidecar attached to a GL1000 for quite a few years (we didn't own a car for several years).
My main interest is touring riding and, despite having a soft spot for CX500s (I established the
Australian CX500 and CX650 Register just over 10 years ago and and I created/manage their website), I also used to own a GL700 Wing Interstate (a variant of the CX650) that rode to/from WA in 2003 towing a small trailer - I travelled just over 9,200kms in three weeks. My current rides are a 1980 CX500 Shadow, a 2006 NT700V Deauville and a 2007 F650GS - until recently I also owned a 1978 GL1000 for four years (I sold it in January this year so that I could take part in this year's Postie Bike Challenge).
I took part in the
2009 Postie Bike Challenge and it was after that that I bought an F650GS (I'm also a member of the ACT BMW Club) so that I could explore the roads less travelled - I love it!!
I'll be over in Perth this weekend - I'm flying in Friday lunchtime and will be riding out on Sunday morning with the rest of the Postie Bike Challenge participants. Once again I'll have a SPOT GPS tracker with me on the Challenge - my progress can be followed via
my website (I'll add the link for the SPOT track in the next few days).
Hope to see some of you at the departure point!!
Kathy
