Evening all,
The planned High Country Ride 2012 will commence on Saturday the 20th of October from Phillip Island. Chateau McFarkle is at your disposal if you wish to arrive early.
We are looking at around 2000 kms for the week, taking in some amazing roads and sites. We will be staying 1, possibly 2 nights in a house at Omeo, and maybe 1 night at Andrew and Janet’s (some of you have already met them) at Wodonga. The other nights will be spent camping, with 1 night above 1200 metres(weather permitting). We will spend some time in southern NSW, and you will get to ride the famous Barry Way. Mainly bitumen, there will be some time spent on good solid base dirt roads, but the views will be worth it! If the weather decides not be kind, we have a "Plan B"ride, taking in more coastal areas, still getting into the hills but not as remote.
Book your leave now and spread the word to the appropriate like minded fools, this is one not to be missed.
Cheers,
McFarkle

Anyone interested in joining me after the border run? I will continue eastward to Phillip Island, there are plans for a group of Victorians to meet up and guide me in from the SA border, spend a few days with McFarkle before flying home Saturday 11th August.

Hi, is anyone planning on riding over in October? Jodee and I are planning on riding over during the week prior to the 'High Country Ride', participating in the ride and then sticking around for the MotoGP which is on the weekend of 26-28th October. If we are permitted we'd love to be able to camp in a small corner of your garden McFarkle? Then we will be heading back to Perth on the 29th, thinking at this point that we will ride straight through. We haven't planned the exact route and date on the way over but we obviously don't want to cut it too fine.
Anyway, at this stage we're just starting to think about it and make plans so if anyone else is doing the same let us know and we can put our thoughts together.

Hi Tim and Jodee, you are most welcome to attend, the more the merrier!
Accommodation for the GP will not be an issue, a camp spot at home is reserved as we speak, and depending on how many will be hanging around, a bed will be a distinct possibility.
Make sure you bring your warm pyjamas!
Cheers,
McFarkle

Hi, after not a great deal of consideration and just brief thought on the subject we are toying with the idea of leaving on 13th or 14th Oct and not needing to race over too much. Any thoughts??

Hello to all
Three weeks to go until Victorian High country ride, not too late to book some leave and join us, Brian/5 and I will fly Thursday afternoon and spend Friday dusting off machines and sorting gear, ready for Saturday departure into the high country, I believe there are still some people considering riding across and back.
Mc Farkle and his Vic mates are gearing up and will descend upon the Island on Friday 20th October.

Hello fellow riders
Returned home today, ride went exceptionally well varying between 6 and 9 riders, covering around 1900 km over 6 days. A big thank you to McFarkle and his Victorian friends for organising the trip, one highlight was suiting up in Jindabyne, riding over the top of Thredbo in sleet and snow - twenty minutes later as we came down the other side, were stripping rain suits off in high teens.
Riding the RT over the Barry Way (on dirt) and was amazing, photo's to come - but they don't do justice to the scenery.
