Talking about Kangaroos..

On Thursday I was talking to John Wightman and he mentioned how he had to slow it down back from the last Border Run to avoid picking up a Kangaroo. Well on that very same day I picked up a Jaywalker on Orrong Road, who appeared from nowhere behind a truck and walked straight into my bike as I was whitelining it about two cars from the front of the row at the traffic light. Needless to say its a right indicator where he connected the bike, and left indicator, left mirror and left handguard all broken off from bike connecting the road. Then there is the matter of the scratch my topbox made on the stationary car to my left. One badly sprained left toe, two aching knees and just a total lack of understanding why a person would cross a road without looking left or right is what I am left with.
The electric system and headlight seems disorientated as well.
Got to go get quotes and parts to get it going again.
Very unfortunate
I suppose I have a choice between Auto Bavaria and Munich Motorcycles - any suggestions?

Shoooot, that's unfortunate. What is the year and exact model of your bike? If it's more than 5 years old, I would recommend Thorsten, as he is a very reputable and knowledgeable operator. His workshop entrance is next door to Munich. If your bike is less than 5 years old, do the right thing and approach Auto Classic.

Conversely, you could do worse than come along to Tuning Day tomorrow, at Bully's. Call me for his address, if you don't have it.

Hi John,
yes I have the address and I was going to come even before the incident, but I think it is now inevitable that I do. She is a 2000 model.
What i need is a mirror, i use the ones with the ratchet elbow which supposedly does not break off that easily on a fall over, but I have broken that very one off twice now. And I need two indicators for the front, and there is really no reason why they have to be BMW genuine parts either. And my ACERBIS hand protecter has snapped off. So those will have to be replaced, they are very good. its the second impact they have withstood and protected my hands.(Wonder if you get those for your knees?)
What worries me though is the electrical gadgets controlling the indicators and the lights. I may also have to replace a bulb in the headlamp, or it is the switch that is damaged.Hope not.
But ok, will be at Tuning Day tomorrow, even if only to get some sympathy....(Dont expect much sympathy from all those hardened riders, but anyway)
See you there.

Hey Herman,
that's bloody hard luck. Bring the bike along (if you can) and we'll look at it. Start looking on Ebay for the parts. Don't go too cheap and beware the Chinese c^ap....

I managed to source (sorry Jono found) everything from the handlebars of a R12GS ie, mirrors, switches, handguards heated grips etc.,etc. from a guy in Victoria for $400.

Many members also keep/hang onto parts long after selling their beloved. Put a list together and ask around.

See you @ Bully's..
