Boulevarde Paul, Jeff, Swampy, Hermann E and Monique E and Bozo took advantage of the cool morning weather to travel to Dwellingup and Waroona.
The spontaneous ride was ignorant of the thousands of lycra clad cyclists infecting the hills.
These energetic souls travelled up to five wide for kilometre after kilometre crossing over double lines and passing their colleagues without warning. All the way from Lesmurdie, through Araluen, past Canning Dam and down Albany Highway was thick with cyclists.
The group felt like they were covering the Tour De France having to weave in and out of cyclists, accelerate and brake heavily. At least with the Tour De France there were only 200 cyclists. The 3 Dams and 5 Dams events were sold out with 1800 entrants, with riders pushing the pedals for up to 235 kilometers.
We finally cleared the chaos on South West Highway and had an enjoyable ride up Del Park Road to Dwellingup parking ourselves in the table under the tree on the verandah of the Café and watching Boulevarde after Boulevarde thunder by. Hermann and Monique left us and the group of four swung through Nanga Road to Waroona then headed home.
A brilliant day for riding --- shame about Bozo choosing a route with 1,800 competitive cyclists.
