Lake Perkolilli Centenary of Speed

Post by bowewilson@gmail.com »

Anyone going to Lake Perkolilli (just north of Kalgoorlie) for the Centenary of Speed on October 16 through 19.
It is 100 years since it started being used as a car and bike racing circuit, so its happening again mainly for pre 1940 cars and bikes.
I am planning to go for a couple of days.

Hi Bowe,

Its gunna take some shuffling at work and wont be able to confirm till early October but yes, I'm planning on it Bowe. Is Digger (Steve) going? He expressed an interest on another forum.

If the weather is right and unless a better proposition comes along, I'm thinking of a loop through Bullfinch (camp north of there), Davyhurst, Ora Banda, Kalg (refuel, ice, drinks) and arrive at Lake Perkolilli Fri arvo. Leave Sun morn for a slab dash home.

The Africa Twin will be in a cocoon by then, to be reborn into a beautiful butterfly Nov/Dec. So its a HP2 ride for me. 8)

I'm going, probably heading out through Quarading, Bruce Rock, Munty, Marvel Loch and possibly spending Friday night at Mt Palmer which should see us pop out near Yellowdine

But I am open to suggestions.........there are a few other sidecars heading out as well.

Just spoken with Wilks, seems like a perfectly satisfactory alternative to The Pub Crawl.

A ride back via Coolgardie on the back road to Southern Cross rather than slab it could tempt me.

What do you reckon?

I wonder if llewes would be interested?

I'll be going somewhere on the long weekend...whether it is in a small group or by myself. This Centenary of Speed Weekend would / could be an alternative to those who may have to budget their time. I'm up for it. :P

most of us are meeting at the Caltex servo cnr Farrell and Great Eastern hwy at 7am for 7.30 depart. Route will be worked out then, but I will be heading out through York and pick up Goldfields rd then hit the dirt coming out on the highway to slab it to Southern Cross, then follow the railway line to Kal. Trying to stay off the highway as much as possible but still make miles.

Might see you there.

I will probably meander along Old Beverley Rd to Narambeen then across to Emu Fence Rd and up through Mt. Palmer to camp at Karalee Rocks on Friday.
Bitumen to Coolgardie then north through Rowles Lagoon, Ora Banda, Broadarrow and on to Perkolilli.
