I've registered...probably take 5 days to ride there although you could do it quicker if you wanted to. IMO, it's easier to take your time than to try and make up time if there are any issues along the way. You can always fill in the time before the event.
I'll be bush camping along the way unless farmland and fence lines prevent that. The route will probably be Perth to Hyden, Norseman and then slab most of the way. Might be some scope for unsealed roads closer to Jenolan Caves although you'll get plenty of opportunity to ride unsealed roads and tracks during the event.
Return journey will probably include the Old Eyre Highway.
Happy to travel together if that suits.

That sounds great. Booked my leave and plan to leave on the Wednesday.
My route was looking like this.
Wednesday Day 1. Home (Baldivis) to Caiguna
Thursday Day 2. Caiguna to Ceduna
Friday Day 3. Ceduna to Mildura
Saturday Day 4. Mildura to Lenolin Caves.
That gives a bit of fat if there are any issues.
Was thinking it would be good to have the Sunday to kick back. Maybe go and see the caves.
My plan was also to camp enroute and also taking the camping option for the safari.
I guess I could change my mind with the accomodation before it needs to be paid in September.
Off the subject a tad but DO make sure you leave time to check out Jenolan Caves before or after the Safari if you can as they are brilliant

Of rugged mountain ranges, of droughts and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons, I love her jeweled sea.
Her beauty and her terror, the wide brown land for me."

That is deffo on the agenda hence trying to get there Saturday
Slight change of plans, I was going to ship the bike from Victoria and fly back to Perth on the 14 November.
My flight is booked for the 14th November but shipping is not.
I then realized that if I leave my bike in Melbourne until December I can ride back during the Christmas Break.
My plan is to fly back to Melbourne on the 18th December and ride back to Perth and take in The Great Ocean Road up to Adelaide from there I am undecided.
Suggestions Please, I want to back in Perth for Christmas.
Also I am thinking of using one of the Airport Security parking companies to store the bike for the 5 weeks, does anyone have experience of doing this or other options.

You could try the Dealer(s) in Melbourne to see if they'll store it....otherwise consider logging on to AdvRider and put up a call for help. Cairns riders came to my assistance when I had a similar scenario last year between the Enduro and the OCR.
Another option may be to contact the BMWC of Victoria....they might be able to give you some leads.

I needed to store camping gear in Melbourne earlier this year. Put it out on Advrider and within the hour had about half a dozen offers.
Still waiting for a reply from BMWC Victoria.
Registration is Sunday afternoon and the event kicks off on the following morning from Jenolan Caves (Blue Mountains) to Bairnsdale on Victoria's East Coast. We'll be zig zagging over the Great Divide several times during the journey. With 200 riders, you can guarantee some busted plastics, bruised egos and maybe even some strains and sprains. Hopefully I'll be there to capture some of the action with my camera.
I might come home via the Old Eyre Highway and check to see if the Dingo made it out.
