When Fini's is only half way

Post by Bozo »

Wes, BillB, Colin, Murray and Leanne, Jack, David and Bozo took part in all or part of a Sunday circuit to Lancelin via Mogumber.

A short deviation through Warbrook Road, Railway Parade and Rutland Road took us through Bullsbrook before rejoining the Great Northern Highway and turning into Muchea East Road into the Chittering Valley. We rode past the huge new Chittering Divine Mercy Catholic Church and an DFES facility with a massive incident vehicle parked outside with lights flashing.

A welcome break for Bakery Products at the Bakehaus in Bindoon was followed by an enjoyable run up to Mogumber where Murray and Leanne joined the tour. We had stopped at Wannamal to see the final stages of the Undertaker Orchid which turns jet black as it dies.

Turning on to Mogumber Road West we followed the bank of the Moore River to Regan's Ford and turned down Orange Springs Road past Fini's Olive Grove. Turning into Cowalla Road - Sapper Road we took KW Road to reach Lancelin. The Coastal Heath was in full flower with the Christmas Trees just in bud.

Stopping at the Kerfuffle Café at Lancelin, the conversation was interspersed with the crunch of chips or battered fish with azure water lapping in the background. If a few quokkas could be added to the scene we could have well been at Rottnest. Noting the leaden sky the group thought it prudent to head straight for home.

The misty rain quickly became large drops and would be Barbagello Drivers revved their cars whilst cornering to spin the rear wheels. The joy of the open roads between Bindoon and Lancelin was replaced by the drudgery of the Freeway and rain.

Great to meet new member Murray (1150RT) and his pillion Leanne (who rides a BMW 650GS) and to get out on an enjoyable ride...shame about the rain.
