The first breakfast for 2016 at Catalanos saw an enthusiastic group of 12 riders and one pillion head off on a circuitous ride to Guilderton.
First stop was Ginger's in the Swan Valley followed by a deviation down Warbrook Road to Neaves Road. We tried Old Yanchep Road which was excellent with lots of twisties, no cyclists and no traffic.
Jens was keen to see a kangaroo which happened on the Old Yanchep Road...shame it was not moving.
Traffic became an issue when we turned into Wanneroo Road with a kilometre of cars in front of us travelling at 80 to 90 kph. All along the road was evidence of the bush fires in November.
Guilderton was absolutely packed but it was very pleasant consuming fish and chips at the beach café.
DFS decided to head straight back to get to his own farewell barbecue and 11 riders and a pillion headed to Gin Gin via Cowalla Road and Orange Springs Road.
At Gin Gin we caught up with 11 Ulysees Riders at the Café. Sitting in the Café with a large expanse of green and a cool breeze blowing over us was relaxing. Half of the group decided to splinter and head straight back to Perth. A good decision for one rider whose rear tyre was showing more metal than a days clean up on Gold Rush.
The rest headed via Mooliabeenee Road and Crest Hill Road to Bindoon. Al took off his gloves to investigate pain and discovered two large splinters. Unfortunately the medical expert had left with the Gin Gin splinter group and Bozo's basic first aid kit did not include the surgical instruments to perform the extraction. A safety pin was used to gouge the splinters out but left the patient in more suffering than before the operation.
A quick run through the Chittering Valley and the ride was over.
Thanks to Sleepy Paul for riding Tail End Charlie to Gin Gin and for all the group for an enjoyable day out. Hopefully the 1600 made it home before exfoliating the rest of its rear tread and Al has not needed to present to Emergency.

Post Script
The Bozo surgery on Al's hand was a success...he was able to write a cheque for a new Honda without excessive pain.
