May 31st Baladjie Rock (Foundation Day W'end)

Baladjie Rock '08 is going to be a bit different. It is still 8 weeks or so away, but plans are being made already.
Last year we traversed Bencubbin where we organised lunch at the Bencubbin Hotel.
In 2008, it turns into the Rock Hop, an orienteering exercise in finding clues, following directions, and visiting places on the way instead of making a bee-line. Riders will need maps, GPS optional (but perhaps won't be a benefit), pencil, paper, and all supplies for the weekend at Baladjie. The ride will leave early (7:30am) on Saturday May 31st, and some of the orienteering will be left for Monday on the way home.
I will arrange a lunch stop, as part of the orienteering challenge.
The orienteering challenge is being established so that it is not a race, it is a weekend trip. Observation is the key, speed is not. Getting there first is sometimes good, sometimes not. Getting there safe and having had a good ride, is what it is all about.
There will obviously be some dirt roads and tracks to destinations along the way, but it is essentially a bitument ride. Dirst sections are limited to access roads to Rocks, no more than a few kms here and there. For those who insist on dirt all the way, sure that can be done too but the main course is being set for bitumen.
Details of the trip are being organised over the Anzac (April 25th) weekend, and will be presented at the May general meeting. Preliminary details will be mentioned at the April general meeting. It would be helpful to have an indication of those hoping to attend the weekend so that we can organise the challenge and the catering for parts we are arranging.
