Sunday ride to Yarloop

6 riders headed South to check out the damage the recent bush fires created down south. In 35' heat we rode down the SW Hwy passing thru what's left of Yarloop, stoping at Harvey for sustenance then headed towards the coast for the trip home on the freeway.
Trees and bush on each side of the road appeared severely burnt at about 10ks as we approached Yarloop, getting worse as we got closer. When we got to what's left of the town the frightening realisation as to the intensity of the fire hit home. Complete homes reduced to piles of burnt rubble, cars burnt, tin sheeting contorted into twisted shapes,and burnt trees fallen over everywhere. Our sympathy goes out o those people that have suffered as a result of this.
We went on to Harvey and headed towards the freeway from there. We were greated with burnt bush and large tracks of pine plantations blackened and destroyed each side of the road. Getting to the freeway the fire had continued over this heading towards the coast.
