Woop Woop is both an old saw mill site and a forestry block near Wilga

Wilga was also a timber town and remnants of the industry are scattered around the post office



I did not have much time to locate the derelict Woop Woop timber mill site but this photo is definitely in the Woop Woop forestry block.

You know you are almost through Woop Woop when you get to Goonac travelling from Wilga

Left Catalano's around 8:30 am and slabbed it to the half way rest stop on the Forrest Highway. Turned off at Dorsett Road then took Coronation Road to Waroona.

Yarloop is still cordoned off. It is ironic that the scorched signage for the Yarloop Workshops is still standing but the workshops have been destroyed.


Turned off the South West Highway at Wokalup to ride one of my favourite motor cycle roads....Mornington Road.

Travelled through to Collie then took the Cardiff Mcalinden Road to get to Wilga. Got to Wilga around 11:30 am and was welcomed by a light shower of rain.

Headed to Woop Woop and then look the Grimwade Lowden Road to the Ferguson Valley. The gravel roads were very wet around Grimwade but the Ferguson Valley was stunning with the fresh green growth being a fluorescent green. Took the Pile Road/Henty Road option to Burekup and then deviated to Dwellingup via the Nanga Road.

Home in time to see the Eagles win....excellent day riding through emerald green countryside and trying some new roads.

Well done Bozo, maybe need to pack a Stihl with a sharp chain , a 48"bar and a full tank next time. The Google earth shots showed that tree so I knew it would be a challenge.
Looks like the navigation was on the button to get so close to Woop Woop.

Just found out that the mill only operated until 1931...might not have a very big footprint.

The Woop Woop Forestry Block is 1300 hectares much easier to find.

Sometimes the ranger prefers to ride alone.

I would also like to check out Woop Woop, let's organise another sortie!

Normally I have ridden over a possible Sunday ride at least once before I involve others.

This ride was over 500 kms and it would have taken much longer with a group so I did not call it out as normal.

I also was not confident over the Wilga end of route and expected that I could have to double back from dead ends.

Seems like a lot of lone wolf rides happening today. We slept in and decided lunch at Lancelin sounded like a good idea. Nice enjoyable ride on the LT without much traffic only a sprinkle of rain.

Got a better map of the Woop Woop forestry block today.


I travelled along Walker Road which is shown as a Walk Track on my other map. I deviated north onto a logging road just under the words Woop Woop in the middle of the map above.

The photo of the Goonac locality sign was still in the Woop Woop block near FK 70+ .

That's okay as I had just spent the last 2 weeks on the bike over east

So ,just wondering did Bill drop the holding deposit on Woop Woop Downs and did Bozo find the site of Doom Doom , photos or it never happened.

BillB, JP, Chris G, JonO and Bozo located the site of the Woop Woop Mill after dropping Nigel at the Ferguson Valley.

An uneventful and underwhelming day apart from:

- A fastidiously looked after BMW Motorcycle getting a plastic bag melted to its exhaust pipe

- One of our riders giving bikies that were overtaking at high speeds, on both sides of us, the "bird" and then the bikie taking it out on Chris G by whacking his mirror

- magnificent scenery through the Ferguson Valley

I think the sophistication of the Wilga Post Office and the lack of a local bakery may have swung Bill's mood to "nah, forgedd abart it"
