Woop Woop Mill was a small timber mill located 6.5 kilometres north west of Wilga. There was a camp next to the mill.
It was constructed in 1925, being completed in October 1925.
It operated from 1925 to 1929 and was owned by the British Company, the Timber Corporation.
The Woop Woop Mill has its own facebook page and the images below are from that site

It looks like a sawpit.
The pit is a mystery as the use of sawpits would have been limited at the time of the mill.
In some mills saw logs are slightly squared on one face to give them stability when the first dimension cut is made in the sawmill. This would normally be done with a broad axe.
The pit may have contained a circular saw that the log passed over to produce the squaring cut.

The Woop Woop Mill and Camp were constructed by Percy Brittain, a carpenter with the Timber Corporation. Percy was normally based at Palgarup.
James Charteris, a Woop Woop mill worker, recalls that the size of the Camp was six unlined huts, several houses for married workers, a boarding house and an office.
He mentions that drinking water came from a well...could that be the circular hole near the mill site?
The mill manager was Kenneth Mckenzie.

The pit could also have been the heart of the sawmill where the belt driven shaft connected to underslung circular saws...see image below:

Info for those that don't read the West Australian newspaper. They have a full page article on WoopWoop in Tuesday's paper on page 3.
Makes interesting reading.
Quite a coincidence, considering the BMWMCWA coverage of Woop Woop in recent days

Only a 1926 photo of the Woop Woop Mill and a scan of the Woop Woop forestry block.
No one has got back to me from the West...a problem when your name is Bozo.

Whoop Whoop is a good name for a horse whose mother was "Beyond".
A 3 Year Old New Zealand Bay Gelding.....probably not descended from the horses that dragged logs to the Woop Woop Mill.

Never mind breeding.
It was sent out $2.50 favourite after being backed from mid-week opening prices around $5.
I thought maybe you lot (with all your Gascoyne Junction Cup savvy) had thrown open your wallets to snap up the overs.

The Sunday Times in March 1926 reported that the Timber Corporation had purchased a Vulcan Two Ton Truck to cart sleepers from Wilga (Woop Woop).
The Truck was reported to be able to carry 3 Ton 5 CWT of sleepers.
A similar vehicle is shown below
