Mist, Mizzle, Drizzle and Rain

Low cloud said Kim...it will lift. The forecast was only cloudy said Bill...only a slight chance of rain. The experts had spoken convincing six riders to ascend the scarp.
Prof Dist, BillB, Kim, JP, Swampy and Bozo rode off expecting azure skies and green fields.
It was misty by the time we reached Lesmurdie with Mizzle through the Bickley Valley. The Mizzle abated at Mundaring Weir but the group were slowed with a third of the road set aside for the WA Marathon Club King of the Mountain event. We passed a hundred runners near the end of their 16 kilometre climb to Fred Jacoby Park. Prof Dist bailed just after Mundaring and the five riders continued on through Gidgiegannup to Mayo Road. Entering Woorooloo we hit a cycling event and ran into the back of a motorcycle ride group in Coates Road.
At Bakers Hill there was a mess of Mazdas on their way to the York Car Show. One of the drivers said "I know how you feel having a Honda amongst BMWs...one of our guys brought a Porsche along instead of his MX5.
Taking the Clackline- Toodyay Road we headed towards an ominous black cloud through occasional Drizzle. Toodyay was full of motorcyclists but we continued on to Julimar Road where the Drizzle turned to rain.
Swampy had an uncomfortable journey as he had taken his badge off to avoid it dropping off like the previous week. Putting it in his pocket, he failed to secure the pin so that every time he braked, accelerated and turned he received a little prick. By the time we got to Bindoon he had had a full course of acupuncture.
The stop at Bindoon included conversations with other BMW riders...one was sporting a BMW Motorcycle Club Cap which he explained was given free to him when he purchased his bike from Auto Classic. Another said he was a member of our club from the 1980's and knew John Wightman. Swampy and Kim traded insults including when Swampy mentioned "staying at home alone through the week and howling all day" only to correct himself saying he was talking about dogs.
Back on the road we were pushed onto the gravel shoulder by one of the widest over size loads I have seen before taking Blue Plains Road back to the Chittering Valley. The sun came out at last giving us a brief highlight to a ride through all sorts of weather.
Thanks to Swampy carrying out Tail End Charlie duties and for provoking much of the humour during our stop in Bindoon.
