The Tuning day will be held this coming Saturday at 1200hrs at my place. You can contact me for the address on 040 209 1731 or a pm from this site.
1. I will be showing Jamie a few procedures using GPS, Mapsource and Google Earth if anyone else is interested, and;
2. Does anyone have an old motorcycle wheel complete with old tyre so that I can show those who are interested, tyre removal and fitment from/to the rim. I have an old tyre and tube so I can show how to repair a puncture for tubed and tubeless tyres, once again if anyone is interested. These procedures will be shown for those who need to conduct repairs when in remote locations or a tyre repair shop (like Tyres for Bikes Vic Park) is not conveniently available.
Cheers Noel

Hi Noel,
I have just bought a Conti TK80 rear tyre for my F800GS and want to change it to ensure I too have the required know how. Could I bring it along? I want to do the job to appreciate the finer points of fixing punctures in the never never, but I sure would appreciate pointers. The F800GS has tubes in the tyre...
regards
Devlin

Bring it along, tubed or tubeless, still basically the same principle. See you Saturday.

Ben800GS wrote:A TKC is an easy tyre to illustrate on as the side walls are soft and it's easy to break the bead (usually by jumping on it).
Changing a Heidenhau is a different story. Tough tyre with strong side walls. It's a mission to break the bead.
Does anyone have one of those to change? If you can change that, you can change anything!
Noel, your avatar isn't working - and it was such a beautiful picture!
If someone does have an old Heidenhau bring it along so that we can compare wall thicknesses and possible change one if we can get a volunteer rim.
My avatar disappeared when the site was down a month or so ago and I have been unable to reload it again. Might get onto Pete and ask if there is a site permission that requires activation?? I have a few more of those shots highlighting my better side, so will upload one taken in better light when able??

I have Heidenaus on a GS800 and had a puncture some weeks ago and could not break the bead. Tried dring over the tyre with the Discovery...eventually had to get Peter at Tyres for Bikes to fix it.
I have since purchased the Tyrepliers motorcycle bead breaker and will bring that along to have a try.
I will be putting the Battlewings on again closer to summer, otherwise we could have done that.
Noel, I don't think we have met...I am new to the club.
Cheers koos

Welcome Koos. I have a set of motorcycle tyre pliers here so no need to bring yours unless you want to. See you Saturday.
