Contos - Margaret River overnighter 12th + 13th November

I am planning an overnight adventure to Contos field (near Margaret River) on the weekend of 12th and 13th November 2016.
Depart metro Saturday 12th around 8.30am, meander through Southwest (~400km), arriving at Contos field mid afternoon, camp the night - Long drop toilets onsite (camping fees apply).

Sunday make our way back along secondary roads, arriving back in town mid afternoon (~300km).

Sealed roads there and back, there is a few km of dirt road into the camp site, dirt riders have plenty of options if you want to meet up along the way or for the night camp.

We will endeavour to find a few bakeries / food stops along the way to and fro, aiming for a relaxing weekend.

Let me know if you are thinking of tagging along.

Actual route will depend on the weather conditions on the day

Good day.
My name is Jean (French name…but South African) and I just joined the club. I ride Gs800 adventure and are interested in joining the trip down south. I have limited experience with bigger bike off road but can keep-up.
I still need the necessary and can you advise what is required for short trip besides the tent. If you can contact me on 0400417609 to have a chat or I can contact you.

Cheers’
Jean.

Jean you've asked the right bloke. Cookie has a great list which he's shared with me previously. Perhaps the most important thing you must remember is a good attitude /sense of humour, a willingness to be part of a group of guys who are adults but not knuckleheads and to keep an eye out for your mates, who by definition are all those on the ride with the group - unless they're a knucklehead and then essentially they're on their own.

I know you'll enjoy the ride as the groups that go are rarely, if ever accompanied by egos which makes the rides fantastic fun.

I guess importantly if you do have an off you'd better watch out for mongrel dogs because you will end up all over YouTube in movies at great personal expense. Check out mongrel dog productions and you'll see what I mean.

Rumour has it that 'Mongrel Dog' will be on the East Coast (BMW Safari) so you are safe from becoming a film star...

Hello fellow adventurers

I will reschedule the Contos overnighter for the new year and focus on the Camp Cook off, happy to lead a ride to Congellin, it is a great location and readily accessible by most bikes/ riders.
