Hi guys

Good weekend of riding in NSW. Not far but very good. Visited the Hunter valley via the famous Putty road and returned vis the Wollemi valley road.

Awesome twisty riding through the forests, bike friendly towns & cafe's along the way and friendly bikers as usual.

Fantastic road The Putty Koos. I was stationed as a fireman (Engineers) at the Singleton Infantry (Grunt) Training School for a while in the early seventies.

Used to love traveling that road to Sydney and return.

Good to be getting around the east coast, Koos. But just admit that you are missing us westies. It's just not the same if you can look over the ocean, and watch the sun dissolve into the sea, as you imbibe a few coldies.

Yes John, back in Perth till late Sunday. Will be at Cats on Sunday and probably go for a ride.

The latte's, were great. Think I had 3 or 4 each way. But I think the East Coasters were having more, on all types of bikes. Many bike friendly cafes on the route were packed out.

I think West Coasters are more hard core.

So I took the K to Canberra Thursday to plead the case for NO rego for bikes to help with the warming climate thing, but they wouldn't have a bar of it. Bikers, like backpackers have to help to fix the broken budget[s]......

Any case, I passed over the magnificent Macquarie pass just west of Wollongong and through the beautiful Southern Highland towns [all coal mining free they tell me on big signs], sipped lattes and enjoyed a very pleasant afternoons riding.



On the way back I took some back roads to the Wombeyan Caves. 30 k's of dirt in. Great riding and magnificent camping on grass. Nice bush walk in the Arvo to view the caves and the Limestone gorge. Facilities include camp kitchen, dining room with 3 fireplaces - will be great for winter and clean ablutions with hot water - for $15's !!



Saturday's ride out was another 40k's of dirt that was quite tricky, but interesting and very enjoyable. Possibly the NSW equivalent of the Bolivian "Death Road". Sheer cliffs with no railings and narrow blind corners and a stony, sometimes loose surface.

Needless to say the K75 Tourer/Scrambler behaved impeccably, even with loaded panniers and the magnificent Pilot Active tyres clinging to any grip available, gobbling up stony gravel roads without complaint.

Sadly the sole member [currently?] of the NSW chapter has been laid low for the past 3 weeks and 2 days with a few snapped & cracked ribs after a tangle with his surfboard.

I think I will be back on the bike [& the board] this week, swimming starts today, although I have enjoyed leasurely wading in the ocean.

This has been the most debilitating injury I have ever suffered...first week was really bad, much better after that, but still taking it easy.

Intercostal muscles. And they go into spasm if you make a funny move. They will improve but it will take a full year for the pain to go completely away (when lying down). We are too old to surf, Koos.

NSW is great riding country. TA and I rode the magnificent Macquarie pass road coming back from Woollongong in 2015. Superb set of twisties Except when a semi-trailer is jack-knifed on the tightest hair-pin turn
It (NSW), does however, have it's fair share of issues: politics; population; police...

Just sharing another great set of highly recommended twisties, being as how you are teasing us mercilessly
