Luft Kopf Sunday

A large and enthusiastic turn out at Catalano's this morning despite the threat of an impending storm.

The enthusiastic Tail end Charlie for the Luft Kopf ride arrived in a 4WD muttering that Harry the Honda's exhaust flap was stuck open leaving him too exhausted to bring for a ride.

The radar over Toodyay was ominous so the ride was redirected south (25 mm of rain recorded since 9:00 am today around Toodyay compared to 3 mm of rain at Karnet).

A large embolism of airheads (11) were amongst the huge group that optimistically headed to the grey hills. The group including a rig with a built in rain gauge with some stunningly restored type 247 motors (but not as authentic as Wightman's bike). Guy, JonO, Ross, Rosco, Simon, Mark, Alex + Cookie, Jack, Mike F, Wightman, BJ, German Paul, BillB, his Royal Griceness, Mackeral Eddy and Bozo were part of the liquid cooled riders that rinsed their way along the Darling Scarp. BJ chucked a FIT (free itinerary tour) and took the gravel to Serpentine arriving well before the black bears. Mike F left the group at Byford but the ride was joined by GS Bill + Trish.

The ride was the largest airhead ride in recent years with and excellent cross section of bikes (and a side car). It was also the largest Bozo ride with 19 participants.

The group stopped at Serpentine for a precipitation break and then took Kingsbury Drive past Karnet for a photo opportunity at the Kingsbury Lookout when the rain cleared. The ride ended at Byford.

Thanks to Wightman and his authentic bike for doing Tail End Charlie duties and to Guy and the group that hustled up all the air head (luft kopf) riders.

Though I put forward the date, I first confirmed with Boze that he was able to lead the ride, he was, so it was a go. A nice turnout, have to do it again, mabe even an Airhead overnighter sometime somewhere. Once again thanks again Boze.
