Falcon Lost Points

After a previous disaster in identifying the Miami Bakehouse in Florida as a lost point when it should have been the Miami Bakehouse in Falcon the Sunday ride crew gave Bozo heaps when we revisited the venue. There are four Miami Bakehouses in WA none of whom describe themselves as being in Florida ...see https://www.miamibakehouse.com.au/contact. Kim said that it was foolish to have lost points as they could become a self fulfilling prophecy. Regrouping points?
Eleven riders joined the journey to Dawesville being promised a cool ride on a hot day. It was also an opportunity to farewell the Pingrup Pilgrim (DFS) who heads back to the UK. BillB, David, Kim, Wes, Wightman, DFS, German Paul, Rosco, Ken, Bozo and Swampy optimistically headed out on a hastily structured ride. Bozo blew it by turning off the nominated road and taking the bulk of the group on a detour whilst a smug duo took the shorter route and spent time waiting in the shade at Byford.
The reunited group headed down South West Highway deviating to Kargotich Road and Hopeland Road before taking Lakes Road to Mandurah. On the Mandurah bypass Bozo was almost cleaned up by a 4WD that changed lanes without warning. All arrived at the Miami Bakehouse, Falcon for the mandatory pie...one rider declined the garlic prawn pie saying last time he had one there were still remnants of the odour in his helmet weeks later. Kim and BillB decided to head home reducing the group to nine.
Traffic split the group up as we headed around the Estuary, down Southern Estuary Drive and along Old Bunbury Road. There is now a posted speed limit on Southern Estuary Drive of 80 kph. The Estuary was packed with boats. Bozo had hoped that the sea breeze would be in and that it would stay cool as we rode inland. Whilst it was only 31 degrees at Falcon it quickly rose to 39 degrees as we travelled along Dorsett Road and Gibbings Road. Reaching Coolup via Coolup Valley Road we crossed the South West Highway and took Coolup Road to cross the new East Coolup Bridge. Coolup Road and Burnside Road is an excellent shortcut to Dwellingup with a good road surface and little traffic.
A coffee stop at the Blue Wren at Dwellingup was a good opportunity to find out whose hair was cut, styled or attacked with a machine. The two traffic impeded riders caught up and we had an enjoyable ride down Del Park Road until we hit the gravel from roadworks at the bottom of the scarp. One rider who did not want to get dust in his white beard raced to the front. The group split up and headed home.
Much hotter ride than that marketed to the participants. Good to ride some different roads even if it means the ride leader gets lost.
