Away with the Birds

Postby Bozo » Sun Mar 12, 2017 2:15 pm

A few new faces at Catalano's this morning causing confusion until we found out that the club had been infiltrated by a café racer group who were heading off to participate in the St Patricks Day event at the City of Vincent.

Two of the sought after HP2's were brought along by BJ and Noel. Swampy was no where to be seen.

After of a promise of no rain twelve motorcycles idled their way along Albany Highway.

Bill B, GS Bill + Trish, Prof Dist + Bec, two of the ten Davids in the club, German Paul, Mackerel Eddie, Kim, Bozo and Brian/5 headed around the back of the airport on Abernathy Road and reach Greenmount via Stirling Crescent, Bushmead Road and Scott Street before a brief stop at The Lakes. Heading to York then turning off on Yarra Road we were soon on the magnificent Bends of Talbot West Road.

We had a brief stop at Chocolate Hills for an Easter photo before continuing on to Beverley. A Pomernian Dog took exception to us riding by and wrapped its lead around its elderly lady owner.

All along the road Bozo was being swooped by galahs, crows and magpies. Even four emus put in an appearance in a paddock to be photographed by a guy stopped in the middle of the road. On the Top Beverley Road over a thousand corellas dropped in to Bozo's path as they were disturbed from roosting in the trees next to the road. "What is it with the birds today...they seem to have it in for you" said one ride participant to Bozo.

Arrived in York to find the coffee shop closed and up for sale. No problem said Bozo we will head to Spencers Brook. The front of the group got held up waiting for a grain train to pass so that we arrived at the closed Spencers Brook Tavern en masse. Waiting in the adjoining field were 50 corellas reading to buzz Bozo. On to Bakers Hill for a pie and a panic. The panic was the purple image of rain on the radar encompassing us from the north. Most of the group inhaled their pie and headed down the road to try to avoid the precipitation that was already beating a devil's tattoo on the tin roof above us. Heavy drops of rain inconvenienced the remaining group all the way to Perth until they split up at Mundaring.

A bit of a shambolic ride with venues shut and riders heading off early with Bozo getting more attention from birds than Colin Barnett from got from people dressed up as Carnaby Cockatoos.

Thanks to Brian/5 for running tail end Charlie and no one getting lost.

Re: Away with the Birds - or Bozo's Fast Ride

No, not that type of fast - no tucker! Closed signs everywhere.

Thanks for piloting the ride Bozo, a circuit from Cats to Beverly, York, Spencer's Brook to GEH.

Left the group at Bakers Hill to avoid the weather. Good decision, got the bike in the shed, helmet off and down came the rain, then the deluge started.
Some people are like Slinkys, you can't help smiling when you push them downstairs.

A quick stop for an "Easter" photo at Chocolate Hills...the rich loam soil resembles dark chocolate when worked up for cropping.

The stop was also quick with the ground being covered in meat ants. It is believed that meat ants were the creative force behind the Rottnest slosh...stamp your foot twice and slap your ankle and turn.

Prof Dist

Happy that you and Bec got home without drama.

Given the amount of lightning in the past hour, I am very happy to be under a roof and not riding.
