Camp "Cook-Off"

Post by toni »

Camping season yet? Here's one with a difference.

Date & Venue: Saturday 17 - Sunday 18 October 2009. Yornaning Dam Camp Site

What it is:
An ovenight camping event.
A "Camp cook-off" competition will be held for all those interested
There will be prizes!

Cook-off Rules:
- All food ingredients & cooking equipment must be carried in on motorcycle
- Cooks are to create a main meal - you probably need o make enough for yourself and a serving for the judges' tasting
- You are required to create a main course only
- The meal must be created from "scratch" i.e. no prior preparation such as marinating etc to occur outside the camp site.
- Additional points for teaming it with the 'right' beverage
- The meal must be served to the judges table at 7:00 pm on Sat night (or as otherwise advised)

What about the bikes?
Choose your own route to the event. There may be some creative prizes, so clock your mileage.
Non-riders very welcome - bring the family! Note that all cook-off entrants must bring their gear by bike.

See you there. :D

For those who don't know where Yornaning Dam is located (that's probably most of us, it seems) then we're awaiting Anthony for a map/instructions.

Anybody interested in being on the judging (tasting) panel? I suspect there may be some 'benefits' and 'bribes'.

Enjoy the week.

DIRECTIONS TO YORNANNING DAM

GPS READING: 32D 44' 34 S, 117D 09' 25E
Access is via the Great Southern HIghway (Route 120), which is Tourist Way 356. Turn west onto Yornaning Road, which is midway between Cuballing and Popanyinning, and follow the road for 300 metres (past the tennis courts and hall), and then turn right before the old house. Travel 1 km, and the sign-posted road is on the left. The dam is about 100 metres in from here.

Suitable for all campers. No fees. Facilities include gas BBQs, tables & seats, bins, pit & compost toilets, dam water.

An indication of interest would be great. Encouraging families to come out. Might need somebody to drive Anthony if he's not yet up to a ride! :P

Any offers to be on the judging panel?
