Great to hear that there is a lot of enthusiasm for the airhead ride.

I have briefly discussed the route with Dinga as follows:

We will leave Catalano's at 8:30 am and head up the scarp to Lesmurdie via Welshpool Road East turning into Canning Road and then Canning Mills Road. Taking Canning Mills Road East to get to Tonkin Highway we will pick up Rowley Road and Wattelup Road to get to Rockingham Road.

We will have a 5 minute stop at the Choice service station just south of Naval Base and can pick up additional riders (let Dinga know or post on this forum).

We will get to the Choice service station at Naval Base around 10:00 am after having travelled 85 kilometres.

From Naval Base we will head to Kwinana Beach and follow the coast around past Mangles Bay on the Esplanade before taking Memorial Drive and Lease Road to take Arcadia Drive to Safety Bay Road.

We will have another brief stop opposite Malibu Road (now 10:30 am and a total of 110 kilometres travelled)

Staying on Safety Bay Road we will turn south on Mandurah Road to take Sixty Eight Road to Baldivis Road before turning into Karnup Road. Turning south at Hopelands Road and transitioning to Corio Road we backtrack briefly at Paterson Road to get to Old Mandurah Road before a short run on Pinjarra Road to get to the Ravenswood Hotel.

We should arrive at Ravenswood Hotel by 11:45 am which is convenient since the full menu is available from 11:30 am.

We will have travelled 176 km to get to Ravenswood.

Riders can choose to return straight to Perth or join the group heading up the scarp on Alcoa Road and North Spur Road before descending on Del Park Road for a stop at the service station on South West Highway in North Dandalup for a top up. This is a further 53 km so if you filled up in Perth and have a range of 230 km plus this would be your main fuel stop.

Returning through Lakes Road, Hopelands Road to get to Kargotich Road should see the group in Perth by 3:00 pm.

Temperature forecast is 37 degrees for Sunday and it will have hit 30 degrees by 8:30 am. I expect that the sea breeze will be starting to come in as we leave Ravenswood at 12:45 pm. Staying hydrated will be important and there will be stops to enable riders to have a drink.

An excellent turnout smashed the recent record for air heads on a Sunday ride as well as the overall number of participants on a Bozo ride.

13 air heads and 12 alternatively cooled bikes left Catalano's. Ted and BJ having helped set the record split at Lesmurdie.

It was warmish and this encouraged more riders to leave at Safety Bay. A lapse in corner marking was only resolved by multiple phone calls but after a short delay the scattered group was together heading inland to Old Mandurah Road. Only a few kilometres on another rider left on Karnup Road. Ross also left with a promise to catch up at Ravenswood.

We arrived at Ravenswood as the sea breeze was coming in and the temperature dropped to 29 C. It was very pleasant sitting at the river's edge and was made even more so by Herman and Monique dropping in. Ross rejoined the group as we left for a trip up the scarp on North Spur Road and down on Del Park Road. One the bikes required hydrogenating and two riders decided to head straight back to Perth.

It was a fiery welcome back to the southern suburbs with almost a ten degree rise from the sea breeze refreshed hills.

A good decision by Dinga to head south to a cool Ravenswood and an enjoyable day.

Great to see so many new faces and to see a recovering Herman after his Laos accident.

Thanks to Swampy for running tail end Charlie and the mostly effective corner markers.
