Wandering to Waroona

Post by Bozo »

A great roll up today on a perfect day for a ride.

11 bikes left to take the trip south. BillB, GS Bill + Trish, Ross, Red Emperor Eddy, Braam, Beemer Dave, Ted, Wes, Peter, Bozo and Swampy took the normal route through Araluen and Canning Dam to be greeted by the event signs for the 5 dam cycling extravaganza involving 2,000 cyclists. Ted had a near miss with a cyclist turning straight in front of him. At Byford it was decided to avoid the cyclists and commute down the South West Highway to the Alcoa Refinery. Passing through Dwellingup the group was split up on Nanga Road by slow moving traffic. Beemer Dave used an innovative way of corner marking before the group arrived in Waroona.

After a pie and a coffee at the bakery we headed back via Coronation Road, Dorsett Road and Southern Estuary Drive to take a scenic drive around the estuary. Passing over the new traffic bridge at Mandurah the group headed back to Perth.

Thanks to Swampy on the extensively farkled white pointer (exhaust wrap, bar risers, disco lights, tailored seat, personal number plates, side stand foot expander) for running tail end Charlie to Waroona and Peter for the duties for the return trip home. Part of the group got caught in the traffic jam for the sell out crowd watching the Eagles tackle Geelong.

Very pleasant ride.

I'll be at brekky on May 6, but with no bike currently in WA so will not be able to go for a ride. Please don't all stay away now that you know I'll be there.

Cheers

Of rugged mountain ranges, of droughts and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons, I love her jeweled sea.
Her beauty and her terror, the wide brown land for me."
