We Got To Get Out Of This Place-The Animals-1965

Post by Digger »

G'Day Slackers,
Myself and a small group are leaving Sunday 22 April for an 8 day ride....not sure where we're heading. Could be North, South, East or....nah, won't be too far West.

SPOT Tracker from 9.00am Sunday.

If there is misery, heartache, hardship and horrible conditions then there could be a video afterwards. If it all goes according to plan, then there probably wont be a video.

Watch this space.

The Animals discography has lots of relevant tracks to a Mongrel Dog Video:
Don't Bring Me Down, CC Rider, Ring of Fire, Let the good times roll, Around and Around, Hit the Road Jack, Shake, Going Down Slow and One Monkey don't stop no Show.
Hopefully none of your colleagues will be a Burdon.

Of rugged mountain ranges, of droughts and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons, I love her jeweled sea.
Her beauty and her terror, the wide brown land for me."

Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood, When I Was Young Baby Let Me Take You Home was preferred to visiting The House of the Rising Sun. I may turn up to See See Rider off.

Prof Dist

Your childhood choices were difficult. "I'm Crying, Talkin' 'Bout You" even though it seems very similar to "The Story of Bo Diddly" except the guys doing our material are not young.

We decided to head north from Perth....primarily to escape the rain band that hit Perth on the day of departure. We still got rained on but by the afternoon the showers cleared and has been dry ever since.

Image
On the second night, we camped at Mt Augustus. Ol’ mate Redneck was walking back to his tentsite and stood on a snake...a very big snake. He identified it as a Black Headed Python, a non venomous species. He spent the rest of the night parading it around as a trophy.

Image
This bloke was a ‘bushy’ and knew his wildlife...I think I would have just jumped 5 metres in the air and started running, screaming like a little girl.

Image
We left Mt Augustus and headed north on the Pigandy-Dooley Downs Road, a great road with lots of varying terrain.
This was one of the many dry creek bed crossings we had to do.

Image
Lunch break on the Ashburton-Meekatharra Road....when we eventually got back onto the blacktop, we discovered we were on a closed road (legacy from heavy rain earlier in the year). The road was closed because a bridge had been washed away...that would explain why we never saw a bridge.

We have camped at Tom Price tonight (Tuesday) cause one of the bikes needed a small engineering job done. We leave tomorrow for ?????

Waiting for the beer to take effect to decide which way we travel.

The following morning we attended the Dawn Service in Tom Price...good crowd and you could tell that the town is proud of their 'ANZAC Park' by the way it was maintained and presented. Following that, we headed for Auski Roadhouse to decide on the next course of action.
Lest We Forget

Image
Called into Hamersly Gorge in Karijini National Park on the way to Auski....beautiful spot with a few families enjoying a refreshing dip.

Image
Our options were limited once at Auski....continue heading further 'Outback' toward Marble Bar which would involve extending our trip or start heading south back toward Perth. We chose the latter and took the New Springs Road toward Wiluna. Photo: Bush camp in early morning.

30 km short of Wiluna we travelled up the Canning Stock Route to Well 2. There was water 10 metres down but not sure of the quality.

Image
I've gotta get out more...there are a few places I haven't seen (yet).

Image
You missed a SPOT!!!

We spent the last night NE of Sandstone and decided to return to Perth the following day because of the risk of thunderstorms in the Goldfields that evening.

There wont be a video....there was no carnage, no breakdowns and everything went pretty seamlessly....just another 'day at the office'.

SPOT link is not here.
