Need to start thinking about getting ready for the Jennacubbine dinner on the 30th, if you haven't registered yet, you need to get onto the website and do so - http://www.bmwmccwa.asn.au previous event held at Jennacubbine have been well received and it is a great venue.

My route on the day will depend on the weather, so make sure you top up and we will be departing Caltex Midvale at 1.30pm, Saturday 30th June, taking country roads (200+ km) and arrive in time to pitch a tent or roll out a swag in the hall before dinner.

Any excuse for a motorbike ride, how's about Christmas in July. We're riding to Jennacubine.

What's that you say? It's a real name of a real place, plucked from the map of silly place names on the Western Australian map.


Golden opportunity for my girl to stretch her new girl's legs.. There was an easy leg of dirt road in there for her to practice on. Effortless of course.


Made it easily to Jennacubine without getting lost.


Robyn flashed his new GSA Rallye X. Digger drove. Bob, Jack and Guy camper-van'ed, separately of course with their beaus. JP and JW arrived in granduer on their R90Ss. Quite a collection of airheads in the club really, the bike variety that is...

While clustered around at the front of the tavern, folks pointed out the owls (Tawny frogmouths http://forum.bmwmccwa.asn.au/viewtopic. ... 525#p17423). The famous Tawny frogmouth pair of Jennacubine blended in perfectly with the flora. The closer you got the more it looked like one bird and a branch. Remarkable camouflage.




Some folks booked early and got rooms. The rest put up tents indoors and out. It was going to be a very chilly night.


As we were salivating over the quality of the beer and the thick juicy scotch fillet steaks...


Our gentleman farmer club member from Upper Kalgan sent an apology but was enjoying the life of a gentleman farmer doing gentleman farmer chores like mould-busting.


On the other hand, our Jennacubine Chef slaved over the hot plate to get our Scotch fillets just right.


The crew obviously enjoyed the festivities. Here we have a game of pick the presidents. There are quite a few in the following two photos.




Our current Prez prepared a hearty breakfast for us all in the morning. Then we all rode off in dribs and drabs to home or otherwise.

A bunch lobbed into the Classic Club meeting and display at the Noble Falls Tavern before pointing for home. Finished the ride with that small nostalgic twang in our hearts. Looking over the Classic bikes made me remember how tough you had to be to get around on those old bikes. I still can't believe I've been riding for more that 50 years. My father had BSAs. He always said, "BSA stands for bloody sore arse!".

The two best features of modern bikes would have to be:

• If there's petrol in the tank, they always start
• Suspension

But that's just me... I did like the GT550 and the RD 400, and the Z1300. Ah the days... Remember when 70 hp was mind-blowing

Not much else to say aside from thanking the committee for organising another great ride and July Xmas.
Sort of thanking same for the prize gratefully received by pointing out my indiscretion running out of fuel at Catalano's a couple of weeks ago.
