Wheatbelt Wandering with Williams Woolshed without Wightman

Post by Bozo »

A noisy bunch at Vic Park today bolstered by a Western Australian team in the grand final. Even a simple question about motorcycles evokes a crowd and a complicated response.

An octet of motorcyclists ran the bee blossom and Araluen gauntlet to get through to Albany Highway past Canning Dam. Peter, Nev, Emperor Eddy, Ted, Wightman, Stoy, Swampy and Bozo managed to avoid most of the cyclists and long week end motorists to get to Threeways.

The group of eight headed down the twisting, wildflower littered road to Wandering. A chance sighting of Tanglefoot Winery was enough to withdraw Wightman from the Wheatbelt welter.

Episode 2 to follow

At Wandering the group headed up Down Street to get to the sports complex only to find that the toilets were down Down Street.

Seven riders went on to Phumpreys Bridge with cautious riding paying off on double demerits days as a four wheel version of the white whale, still in service, kept its lights and sirens silent as it passed the group.

Nev contacted the head of the BMW Narrogin Sub Committee, Jeff, to get the good oil on coffee. Jeff and vehicle recovery expert, Sandra, joined the group at the recommended Lazy Daze Café for a enjoyable sojourn before heading off on a ride recommendation of Clayton's Road to get to the Williams Woolshed. Grumbling from Emperor Eddy about a stop every 20 minutes was disregarded as further sustenance was ordered including excellent pies. A magic run to Quindanning only upset by a dumb red light on the bridgeworks. Passing through Boddington we missed the field of quilts before the ride finished at Bannister. The group were breathalysed at their return to Threeways (North Bannister) before a smoky ride home.

Thanks to Swampy for keeping the group together on a multi stop trip, to Jeff and Sandra for the local knowledge and Wightman for the photos.

Thanks Bozo and all our compatriots for sharing the road on this Wheatbelt Wandering with Williams Woolshed 'with/without' Wightman ride.

Wightman... One minute he was there...

Then just a sniff of red... gone...

Wonder how he fared with the booze bus on the way home?

Top day's ride in our beautiful spring. 8)

Good to catch up with Jeff and Sandra in their neck of the woods for a change :P

Stopped for a photo or two on the way home 8)

Not sure how Wightman fared at Threeways but the picture he sent was of an almost empty bottle seemed like more than a sniff was consumed.

Thanks Bozo for the well led ride, Swampy for his TEC duties, John and Nev for the great photos. A great Spring ride with perfect weather and the countryside at it’s greenest.
