An excellent turn out today with JP happy to A T with his new purchase (it seems he will be paddling rather than shifting). No sign of the white pointer.
The year's first group of thirteen riders to go on a 2019 ride was on today, 13/1.
DFS (is it three bikes in three countries of 13 bikes in 13 countries?), Peter, German Paul, Wightman, Ted, His Royal Griceness, Bill + Trish, David, Reklaw (who has a fear of the rebmun 31), Rhonda, Vic, Swampy and Bozo headed out of the city past Canning Dam, cyclists (both recumbent and vertical), slow moving traffic, fast moving sports bikes and a dead boar.
Triskaidekaphobia, or fear of the number 13, was kept to a quiet grumble by Bozo not revealing the head count until after a run through Bannister, Wandering and Crossman before arriving at Quindanning. We were lucky not to have got caught up in a police road block at North Bannister but did get caught up in multiple road works on the Albany Highway.
A couple of the group sat next to a white bearded gentleman thinking it was Swampy. The Porsche driver said he could be a Swampy relation and happily accepted the group on his table. Wightman was stirring with magpie, turtle and tortoise stories. Bees were being a nuisance by affixing themselves to the inside of our drink glasses and a juvenile magpie was trying to swallow a ping pong ball sized piece of gristle.
On noting that we were 13 bikes, His Royal Griceness refused to return with us and took David up the gravel path.
10 riders headed to Dwellingup before a run down Del Park Road and a return up the South West Highway to Perth.
Wightman's 48 year old airhead got lots of admiring comments.
Very pleasant weather to travel to Quindanning and only a short stretch where it got over 30 degrees.
Looking forward to having 20 on the run next week (20/1).
Thanks to Swampy for running as taile end charlie and DFS for doing tail end dining.

We were lucky to be able to avoid the Police stop at North Bannister just by turning into the Threeways Car Park. One of the group had a close to legal tread rear tyre. Another had a gap where a speedo used to sit.
