A crooked ride to the crooked carrot
No other takers for the ride from Kelmscott today so headed down on my own to meet up with Goldie and Herman in Ravenswood. Started out via Churchman’s Brook Dam and Serpentine Dams. Deviated from the original plan to carry along the hills via Scarp road and then down via Boyd Rd. A few dog legs down to Hopeland, Corio roads then on to the Ravenswood Hotel for an early lunch. A great setting under the trees along side the river.

Unfortunately Goldie had other commitments so it only Herman and I that carried on further south to Myalup. It was a crooked route down between the Forrest & South Western highways. Several extra deviations were added with road diversions due to road works on Curtis Roads and Sutters Lane. Added in was a short section of unsealed this time comprising of mostly a firm sand base just to keep the adrenalin levels up.

A drink at the Crooked Carrot before returning up the Forrest Hwy and Old Coast Road to Mandurah where Herman peeled off. I returned home via Old Mandurah, Corio and Hopeland roads. The fire across Tonkin Hwy required another diversion this time through Armadale.

The trip down and the initial return legs were quite comfortable with temperature starting in the high 20’s then low 30’s. The final leg into the metro area was a bit warmer being around 35 degrees. Overall the trip for me was just over 400kms.
Both stops would be good venues for future rides.
Thanks guys it was worth the trip down.
