Almost 30 bikes of all shapes and sizes at Catalanos this morning.

When Digger mentioned that he thought Heaven involved running the gauntlet of a man with a grey beard, I immediately thought of the road block of distinguished gentlemen at the entrance to the coffee shop on a Sunday.

Good to see Anthony back with a functioning rear suspension and two of the rare R1200CLs parked side by side.

JP delivered on the promise of a 2018 Chronicle and they were dished out faster than pies on a Bozo ride. Great to get an overview of the year and worthwhile continuing the initiative.

Ten riders were offered an abbreviated ride through the hills to match the forecast high temperatures.

Jack, JP, HR Griceness, Gerry, Ted, Bill + Trish, Ross + Bernadette, Mark, Wes and Bozo headed out in the cool to ascend the scarp and twist through Repatriation Road, Paterson Road and Walnut Road to get to Mundaring Weir Road. There are still bridge works on Mundaring Weir Road with a traffic light set up managing the single lane. Lots of cyclists out but fortunately in small bunches.

Through Mount Helena and a stop at Chidlows before a run through Wooroloo and Wundowie for a spirited ride down Burma Road. Mark and Gerry left us at Berry Road with Jack having a previous merchandise commitment leaving seven to arrive at the Gidgegannup Bakery.

The conversation was quite sedate until Ted started talking about a cream that allowed him to be able to ride. He said its performance was amazing in relaxing muscles and reducing inflammation. His gestures involving a locked arthritic middle finger created consternation in the surrounding crowd. Clearly he is on to a great product that works for him and it would be useful to know more about its active ingredients. It also created a lot of humour.

The temperature tipped 39.5 degrees C on the way home past the airport. Glad we made the call for a short ride.

Thanks to Wes for running as Tail end Charlie.
