Getting the Good Oil

Post by Bozo »

A happy group at Catalano's this morning with Ted bringing an impressive biographical folder.

Ten riders and a pillion headed out past the airport before Ted had to bail out with engine problems. The remaining nine, Electric Pete (Two Volts), His Royal Griceness, Wes, David, Bill + Trish, Mark, Peter, Swampy and Bozo took Bushmead Road and Scott Road for a slow slog up Great Eastern Highway with roadworks between Greenmount and Mundaring.

A low level oil indicator flashed up on Bozo's bike and an inspection at the Lakes BP showed an absence of oil in the sight glass. Half a litre of the good oil later and all was good. We took the Great Southern Highway (which at its start is East of Great Eastern Highway before turning north) to Yarra Road, West Talbot Road, Talbot Road and Cut Hill Road before rejoining Great Southern Highway.

As Bozo was filling his oil the group numbers filled with Phil joining the ride to York.

At York we lost Phil and David. HRG was leading Electric Pete astray by taking dirt and other shortcuts. Travelling via Quellington the group reached Meckering where Wes obstructed a woman with a gas problem. A great run to Goomalling and a loop to Toodyay was followed by a sojourn upstairs at the Toodyay Bakery. HRG met a bloke called something like Big Nell and split. Electric Pete needed a longer run and headed to Dewars Pool Road. Swampy and Bill + Trish headed home independently whilst the remaining quartet took Clackline Road to Bakers Hill. A trio then went down Coates Road, Werribee Road and Government Road to cut back to the Great Eastern Highway near Acacia Prison. The group split up at Mundaring.

A great day with brilliant weather for a long ride through the Wheatbelt.
